Simon nodded at Scia, but then saw Charles and of all people Paul talking to him. He bowed to the man, his shackles making noise as he did.
"To what do we owe the pleasure, Paladin-dono?" he asked. And then he said something. "The other bosses are here sir. We were all waiting for Eve and another." he said, being respectful. Taka was still perfectly perched on the man's shoulder, and even bowed with him.

By Charles` side was his personal intern, Cricket- chipperly walking at a brisk pace with her fingers intertwined, her eyes constantly scaling her surroundings with a gleam of awe in them. Behind her, followed a strange looking robot- one taking an appearance slightly similar to that of a flower. But, with a face. It rolled near her smoothly, with it`s... 'eyes', straight ahead."I like it quite a bit, actually! Gaudy can be charming!" She chirped in response to Charles` comments, folding her arms behind her back. Unlike her boss; Cricket did not attract anything like the attention he had. As a matter a fact, if not for Charles` presence, she would never allow herself to stumble upon a place like this. Even if it was Highend... criminals were still criminals...! And to think at some point, these streets were a haven... a shimmering reminder of humanity, reduced to shambles no better looking than the rest of No Man`s Land as an aftermath of Kraven`s... incident. But, needless to say- Cricket felt terribly out of place. And unsafe. She kept a smile up, however, and remained close to her boss` side. So long as she stuck close to him- it was like being in her own bubble...! Right...?

They had both taken to admiring Mario`s bust, a few words from her boss managing to catch Cricket off guard a bit. But, it didn`t take too long for them to be approached by a Family member; one whose name she couldn`t recall, but she knew to be one of the Family`s six bosses. And another; which... wasn`t one she was familiar with, either. But he had a hawk. A big hawk. And a sword. Well then. With that information in mind, she averted her gaze and took a small step closer to Charles. At least since this was the Family-- there was hope that this whole thing could go on without a hitch...

Paul straightened his tie when Charles asked him who was here for the contract talk. Oh, that. Before Mario would do this but now, Eve would have to take care of it. "Well Mr. Charles, Me and Masaru and Mariko are here. Mr. Kayden went with Mr. Atticus to pick up Ms. Sophia and Ms. Eve." Paul then noticed that there was a robot on the floor and someone who was by Charles. "Excuse me Mr. Charles, but who is that person right by you?"

Charles snickered at Cricket's comment on gaudiness "I suppose you're right... but come on... I'm a billionaire and even my living quarters look nothing like this... it's like they tried their best to look like stereotypical rich people from those old cartoons...? Was I the only one that watched those...? Yeah probably." he replied to her, looking to Paul and Simon "The Family always did have some colorful assassins... and bosses for that matter. Hello Simon." he greeted the hawk-gowned fellow but then focused on Paul "Well then, I won't go too into this without your other bosses, but I'd like to start post-haste. As you are aware The Family is still receiving arms and supplies from Paladin. It's a partnership, you keep the peace in here, we keep the peace out there. Simple enough. But I fear that The Family has not been performing up to par lately... with the arms we give you, I expected the war against Vulture Team to be over already. Yet here we are..." then Paul asked about Cricket "Oh?" He looked to the robot "That is a robot. An automaton, don't tell me you've never seen one before? Now I remember the golden days when the world was in better days... when I would bother designing those things- oh, you're talking about the girl-" he looked to Cricket, as if she was an afterthought "Oh yeah, that's Ms. Ulloa. She gets me my coffee..." which is usually water, because Charles didn't know the difference between the two. Budget cuts.

Paul listened in to what Charles had to say. Oh right...they had a deal to wipe out the Vultures. Paul simply brushed back his hair with his hand and when Charles finished, he responded. "Well Mr. Charles, we are trying our best. Vulture keeps on multiplying it's forces everyday but I know that is no excuse. The Family takes full responsibility for not meeting the quota." He took a small bow of forgiveness then listened about Charles talking about robots. Yes he knew what robots were but then he learned about who that person was. Paul simply gave a smile. "It's nice to meet you Ms. Ulloa."

When she had actually been addressed, Cricket tensed, and cleared her throat. She didn`t speak, only assuming Charles would answer for her-- but then he started talking about her service robot instead. Although her expression wouldn`t show it, Cricket was clearly bothered. As soon as his attention was pulled from her, Cricket gave Charles a bit of a look. She did much more than make coffee...! Interviewing that shark man had to count for something! "Nice to meet you as well..." She finally said, offering a very obviously faked smile that dropped quickly. After that, she remained quiet, as an act of over-precaution. She didn`t want to say anything that would accidentally cast a bad shadow, after all...

Mariko smiled lightly as she squeezed Masaru's hand, though she turned her attention to Scia when the woman spoke up. So there was a problem involving her...? She was interested, and daresay even curious- yet then, people started filing out, following some 'noise'. She frowned slightly, turning her head to look towards them, before turning back again. "Miss Scripture, if you'll excuse us- I believe there's something we need to investigate, at least while we wait for the other bosses." She smiled politely at the other before turning and gently tugging Masaru along after her, quietly walking to where a new group was forming- around... Mister Paladin, of all people. And someone who was apparently his assistant...? "What a pleasure," she murmured, nodding her head respectfully to the man, and then the girl beside him.

Charles paid attention to Cricket in the corner of his eyes, he trusted her to keep herself from making any comments that may make this meeting go sour. Chances are, these people were easy to upset. Everyone in this city was, one wrong word and you could be enemies for life. That's just how it worked, of course, The Family had to worry more about making an enemy of Charles then the other way around at this point "I'm glad we're on the same page..." Charles replied to Paul "No Man's Land cannot afford another war like the last one... I expect the conflict with Vulture Team to be over with one party victorious post haste." he told Paul in a cold voice. Then Mariko made herself known, greeting Charles. The businessman smiled to the woman and replied "Ah, Mrs. Hattori, I have much to discuss with The Family. I trust the other bosses will be here soon enough...? Because I would hate to be left waiting." he spoke to Mariko in a polite voice, even though he was in essence telling her that he expected them to all be there to speak to him immediately in a semi-threatening manner.

Masaru walked along with Mariko--only to soon join the people talking to Paladin and his supposed assistant. He listened to Charles speak to Mariko, and he moved to answer,
"As far as we know, some of them went off on a drive or something..." Masaru said to Charles as he stood next to Mariko. "I'm...not sure when they'll be getting back. Do you want us to text them and ask them to come back here...?" He didn't like this situation. A personal call from Charles Paladin could never be good news.

Scia followed Mariko and Masaru as they went to investigate what was going on down the hall... It's alright Mrs. Hattori if there is more important business to take care of, this matter is not currently that urgent, thank you though... She approached Chrales and Cricket, standing next to the remainder of the family next to Simon and Paul... She spoke in her kind actresses voice, it sounded very legitimate to anyone who didn't know her skills... Hello Mr. Paladin... It's a pleasure to see you... And Ms. Cricket it's nice to make your acquaintance... Mr. Hattori's right, I'm sure Ms. Eve and the others would come quickly should they hear of your presence... She unnoticeably scanned them both particularly Charles with her eyes, he showed some agitation but what to, nothing in particular it was like he hated the whole room around him, she made sure to be as polite and professional as possible, she did not want this going bad because of her.

Paul just simply nodded to Cricket's response. He didn't want to make any matters worse the way it is. Mess with Charles and you are sincerely fucked. After Charles told him he expected a victory post haste, this made the man swallow hard as the tone and the way Charles said it was very threatening. "Y-Yes Mr. Charles. We will make sure that will happen."

Charles gave an equally friendly smile to Masaru as he came into Charles' view "And there's Mr Hattori... so, that leaves out three of your bosses, no?" Charles turned back to Paul. The greenette showed some notable nervousness in his word and actions, Charles could read him like a book "There is no need to be like that sir. I am not angry, nor am I upset. I am simply a businessman who wishes to see his side of the bargain fulfilled." he told the man in a friendly voice. Of course, then he got back to business "Do whatever you want to get them here. I am willing to start the talks without them too, I simply do not care so long as The Family understands the situation they're in." he told Masaru candidly.

Geez when did she turn into the secretary, actually she kinda was come to think of it, all she did was sit around gathering and sorting information... Oh well what got the job done got it done...

Charles rose n eyebrow to Masaru "Is that so...?" he didn't care to comment, if they didn't need to wait on Eve and the other bosses he would be perfectly happy. It really did not matter to him. When Paul led him to the meeting area, Charles casually sat down. He already looked bored, keeping his head up with his arm leaned against the table. He looked over to Paul, Mariko, and Masaru "Very well then... I shall say it. Surely you've heard the rumors... The Inquisitor has returned. I'm sure you are all well aware of the threat he presented during his previous reign of terror. And along with a newcomer known as Citizen Ross... they seem to be trying to make a power grab from both Vulture Team and The Family. Also, just the other day they traversed into the graveyard and stole Father Death's coffin... I need not comment on that myself." Charles shot a glare to each of the bosses in the room "What I'm here to say is that you should ignore these problems. Paladin will deal with them. You are to focus on eliminating Vulture Team... understood...?" he told them in a blunt, dead-serious voice "Ignore The Inquisitor... focus on destroying Vulture Team..."

Scia walked into the meeting room... Silently she pulled out her phone and texted Sophia... Dear Ms. Harper Charles Paladin has called a meeting to talk with the bosses of The Family. I am sitting in on said meeting and will take notes on anything mentioned. If you wish me to I can speak on your behalf as a representative. With Care Scia Red Scripture. ... Scia listened intently to what Charles was saying... She knew of the Inquisitor but as most of his activity was within the Prison little was known outside of Paladin files, which she had access to almost none... But the fact that he had resurfaced was interesting, you could never count on anyone's confirmation of death for very long... Citizen Ross she had heard of during cases of people trying to charge him for killing other boxers in the ring... They had gone grave digging, how pleasant... Focusing on Vulture was understandable but Paladin not at least telling them to track the Inquisitors movements was very odd... Did Charles have another resource for controlling the City other than the Family... That could be dangerous for them, hell it was potentially catastrophic, they needed Paladin's backing to be on even footing with Vutlure and with the Inquisitor back they needed it even more than ever... Scia gave off no physical show of emotion, her face was by default dead as a doorknob, but she watched Charles and listened carefully... Of course Charles had other ways of dealing with unstable elements within the prison but to have something efficient enough to not worry about the return of the Inquisitor this could make the Family obsolete quickly... If he was just playing Vulture and the Inquisitor against each other he would want The Family to wait until they were both weak then go in and finish both but this... What was he doing?... Scia took out her slowly growing personal file on the prison and made a few notes then put it back in her jacket.

Masaru listened to Charles speak, keeping a neutral expression on his face. He was almost expecting Charles to ask them to help deal with the problem...but no. He told them to stay out of it. And focus on Vulture Team.
Something...just wasn't sitting right with Masaru here. They would have probably focused on Vulture anyway, even it Charles hadn't come--but Charles coming, personally, to tell them to focus on Vulture Team? ...There must be a reason behind it, Masaru figured. There must be a reason that Paladin wanted them to stay out of their way. Paladin didn't want them getting involved. Masaru actually took it as the man looking down on them, honestly...like an adult telling a child to stay out of adult matters. And it kind of made him a bit upset. But, he kept his neutral expression, replying,
"Very well. We'll convey the message to the other bosses."
This whole situation was suspicious...he was going to make sure to organize a meeting of the Family bosses later to talk about this...he felt like Paladin might have been trying to use them...

Paul sat down with the rest of the Family members and listened in on what Charles had to say. So the Inquisitor was alive. That never sounded good. Then the man brought up Mr. Ross. Paul's mind was confused as to who was Mr. Ross and what was he doing? He then expected him to tell them to take care of it but was even more confused when he said that Paladin would take care of it. If it was only a concern for Paladin, why would he even bring that up to them? Something was off but Paul didn't want to say that. That would just be a grave mistake. All he did was nodded his head. "Understood Mr. Charles."

Charles grinned as he heard the responses from the various Family members in the room, good, they all understood just where they belonged. But no, he wasn't done, Charles still had one more assignment he needed to give The Family. Sliding a file over to the bosses, Charles clasped his hands together and glared to it "Here's something you may have a bit more of a reaction to... I have found that your type doesn't respond well to being told NOT to do things... so here's something to do. This is the file of a particular individual in my city... he is to be assassinated by any means necessary. While The Family has lost much of its power recently... its assassins are still top notch... there's no mistaking it. You all really do specialize in killing people. I want you to kill this man immediately. He is a threat to my goals. If the assigned task is carried out I will send a CONSIDERABLE rewards your way... enough power to keep this city as your own once and for all. Understood? Good... of course... I will be taking my leave now. I expect there will be no questions asked regarding anything we have spoken of today... you all know how much I hate questions..." his last words were filled with dread, for an elderly man, his words seemed to carry a devastating mount of weight. The man walked out, bringing Cricket with him. In a flash he had just disappeared. Inside the file they would find the dossier of their target: Ryder Mercy.

Mariko remained fairly quiet as the others finished discussing what needed to be discussed, her hand holding securely to Masaru's as she eyed Charles and his little assistant cautiously. Something was happening in the city that they didn't know about- the only question was if it would be beneficial in the end... The woman was quiet until Charles left, and her eyes flicked immediately to the dossier on the table. A hit, huh...? Who did they need to take out now...? Slowly, her hand reached out, almost as if afraid to touch the file- yet- hers was the first to grab hold of it and pull it closer, though she left it on the table as she flipped it open, blinking in shock as she stared down at the picture of the redheaded Vulture leader.
They were being sent to kill Ryder Mercy...?
She'd known he was a problem that stood between them and their goals but she hadn't expected an outright hit on him- he was definitely a dangerous enemy to make... Carefully, she flipped through the file, reading important information before she slowly looked up to Masaru, her eyes clear of any emotion. "それは、自分自身をパラディンの好意に分類するために、この男を取り出し、人のために私には論理的に思えるでしょう...私たちは誰が機会を得る前に試してみて、彼と一緒に対処すると言う...それは有益な証明するかもしれない。" she murmured, her voice low even though she spoke in a language she knew nobody else would understand other than Masaru. She smiled slightly afterwards, squeezing his hand gently and then flipping the file closed, glancing at the others in the room afterwards.

Masaru folded his hands together, elbows on the table as his hands hovered in front of the bottom half of his face, his eyes concentrated on Charles' back as the man left, then down onto the dossier on the table. Ryder Mercy, huh...? He heard Mariko murmur something to him, but he wasn't quite sure what he thought about it. This entire situation seemed...off. He remained quiet for a moment, until he finally spoke up, loud enough for the others in the room to hear,
"...I don't trust this. Charles Paladin, arguably the most significant and busy figure in this city--so busy that he needs his own secretary--took time out of his schedule to come talk to us personally, only to give us a hit and tell us to stay out of certain affairs...? ...I feel as if Paladin isn't just giving us advice here. And when they tell us not to get involved...I can't help but think that they see us as a nuisance. We were already fighting Vulture Team without Charles asking us to...or at least, we were planning to...and we made our intent quite clear over the past few days...so why would he feel it necessary to do this, and bribe us to kill the Vulture leader on top of all of that...? It seems like he's giving us incentive to not stick our noses in places where he doesn't want them..."

Scia calmly stood then walked to the door and checked the hall for Charles then scanned the room and hall heavily... she sat back down and listened to Masaru and Mariko, Scia didn't try too but if needed she could decipher any language she didn't know, but if Mariko wanted privacy Scia respected that... Scia leaned back in her chair nodding to Masaru's words... She spoke in a blunt emotionless voice without looking at the others... He's replacing us... Did you hear him?... She looked at them now mimicking Charles' voice perfectly... It's a partnership, you keep the peace in here, we keep the peace out there. Simple enough. But I fear that The Family has not been performing up to par lately... you should ignore these problems. Paladin will deal with them... It's The Family's business to deal with issues within the city walls, yet Paladin is dealing with the Inquisitor... He's trying to hide it from us but he's plotting around us... Ignore the Inquisitor... He even bribed us to make sure we didn't find out about his little schemes... I have found that your type doesn't respond well to being told NOT to do things... We need to inform the others and organize... I believe some of us do need to do as Mr. Paladin asked, however we need to find out what Paladin is doing behind our back... Scia had seen criminal organizations crumble because of things like this, she helped cause a few of them... This could potentially kill the Family.

Paul listened in to what Masaru had to say as Charles left. He was thnking on what to say when he heard what Scia had to say. The man simply nodded as what Scia said was true as well. "Agreed. It seems like they're planning to end us sooner or later and we can't allow that to happen. We have to be careful though, who knows who might be keeping an eye on us while we talk." Paul looked around the room before speaking again. "We should wait for the others to get back before we discuss further on what we should all do about this but we do need someone to look at what Paladin is doing. I suggest we have two people to look into that matter while everyone else just deals with Vulture. We don't want to make it seem too suspicious to Charles and the others."
