Luckily, or perhaps unluckily, Bravery was not drunk alone. Gabriel broke out laughing as well, unable to stop himself as it looked as if Bravery was going to fall off his stool. He probably shouldn't still have a drink in his hand- but he did. It was only half gone, but he took a big drink of it once he managed to stop laughing, shaking his head slightly. "W-we should g-go... somewhere," he slurred after a moment, tilting his head.

Gabriel let out an amused snort before he shook his head, lifting his drink to his lips and slowly draining it. He blinked a few times as he set the glass down before he turned to Bravery, grinning. "We should... go back to our r-room," he slurred out, swaying a bit in his seat.

"... Yeah, you really are.." Jo trailed off, smiling warmly at him. Quite honestly, they`d both seen each other cry a fair amount of times. She briefly wondered how healthy that was. She took in a deep breath, pausing in silence as she wondered how she`d go about this. "W-Well... it was like... ah.." She started, already trailing off. The blunette coursed her fingers through her long strands again, taking in another deep breath. She really had to physically swallowed her pride. "I-I guess I should start by saying... I mean, I don`t know if you knew, but I`m actually divorced. I.. uh.. got married... when I was... nineteen... like, barely nineteen." Her face flushed in embarrassment as she admitted this, her eyes avoiding his glance. "To... this guy I knew since I was, like, twelve. His name was Claus. I used to bully him in middle school." She added the last part to ease some pressure off herself; his name no longer slipped off her tongue with ease, instead leaving just a foul, ever lingering taste of venom in her mouth. She no longer smiled lovingly each time she spoke his name like she once had. All that name was associated with was that one memory; the last one she had with him. She stood up from her seat as if that would loosen her knotted stomach, now pacing back in forward in front of her companion. "R-Right. So. The actual thing. So, uh.. while you guys were looking for that one girl, I guess... I think I was in the Inquisitor`s tower? I-It was really dark.. I may have been knocked out for a bit. Then there was just, like... this splash of really cold water.. and I had a blindfold on, and I couldn`t move, and I could barely breathe, and it just sucked a lot. And Jade was there. And he wasn`t even phased, b-but I was terrified. L-Like, really terrified." She paused, subtle details of the event slowly coming back to her mind as she recalled them. She plopped next to Ryder on her bed, holding her head as she wracked her own mind. "A-And... there was this really dim light... I think it was a candle? And I.. I mean, I saw his face, but I didn`t recognize him at first -- until he started screaming. A-And... he stabbed Jade. A lot. It wasn`t funny, though, surprisingly. It was terrifying. H-He called us sinners, and he kept going on about some angel, and he told us to confess, and..." She had been desperately resisting any particular vivid memories associated with that day, but as she attempted to explain them to Ryder, she just saw the events transpire as if they were going on right in front of her. Thinking back on how tainted she let his mind become -- and at the hands of him of all people made her completely nauseated. Oh, perfect -- hot, acidic tears were beginning to form in her eye, but Jo wiped them away rather quickly, not letting herself stop just yet.

"And he left the room for a bit... Me and Jade tried to break the ropes, but we couldn`t. T-They were just really tight, and it burned. I-I swear, I didn`t even hear him come back in, and the ropes were just gone..! B-But he just.." She paused, her body shuddering visibly. "H-He had a pair of rusty scissors. That was it. A-And I had nothing, but he looked so defenseless..! He lied to me, he tricked me..! He told me he was better..! He told me we could just leave and go back to how it was, and I just believed him like a fucking idiot...!" She tugged her ring off her finger in one swift movement, clenching a tight fist around the diamond. "W-We hugged, and it was familiar and nice and I just thought everything was going back to normal, u-until he just pulled back and he... he just...!" Her shaky fingers absent mindlessly brushed against her eye patch as she felt a sudden stinging sensation in them, as if the wound was still fresh. "I-I was scared of dying. I-It would just mean that he won, and he got away with what he did to his mind, and I didn`t want that..! N-Not after what he did. Fuck, I`ll have his goddamn head for what he did...!" Jo choked back a sob, having almost forgotten that tears has just continued pouring from her eye. "I-I just didn`t wanna die, okay?! A-And I had to break his arm, and he just fell -- and he seemed okay again, and i-it didn`t occur to me that he could have easily tricking me again, I just fell next to him, a-and..." She clenched her fist tighter, swallowing a forming lump in her throat. "A-And he just... told me everything. He just told me what I did to him and how I broke him myself and how he lost his job and I-I don`t know what I did..! I tried to tell him I was sorry but he told me not to be and it just...!" Jo exhaled deeply, trying to calm herself, but to no real avail. "H-He just... pushed his scissors towards me. A-And I didn`t know what to do, b-but he looked so miserable. I-I didn`t want him to just end up like... l-like me, or something! B-Because what the hell kind of way to live is that?! A-And I just took them and... and I raised my arm... and... just..!"

She shuddered, face falling into her own hands as she doubled over, her gaze fixed onto the floor as she held a hand against her mouth. Her body shook each time she took a breath in, but she kept trying in an attempt to calm herself. Finally taking in one steady breath, she looked over at Ryder. "A-And you know what else? I-I`ve been thinking about it lately, but... I-I don`t care if someone calls me a murderer! I-It`s fucking true!! And I-I`m the one who stabbed him on purpose...! I-I fucking knew what I was doing...! S-So why the hell was everyone calling me some kind of fucking hero and you`re -- you`re just ---!" She screwed her eye shut, turning away from him again as she felt herself melt under his gaze.

"Hmmm? Yeah, I am kinda sleepy..." Bravery gave a big yawn, finally crashing from his ridiculous burst of energy that the alcohol had provided him with. He got up from his stool, but stumbled, pretty much falling on his face. "Owwwww. Owwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww." He pretty much just sort of laid there, face down on the floor. "Owwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww."

He stumbled a little bit as well, but luckily managed to keep his feet, soon bending down to help Bravery up. "C-come on, silly," he giggled, grinning as he tugged at his sleeve.

Ryder listened attentively to Jo's story, the solemnity of his face increasing with each passing detail. Even he could feel the sheer weight of the situation Jo had been in--and he hadn't even really experienced it. He couldn't even imagine what it had been like for Jo. He listened all the way through the entire story, and at the end of it all...he hardly knew what to say.
"J-Jo..."
And then, she started comparing herself to him, and his breath caught in his throat. Had he somehow unearthed this memory by explaining his own situation to her earlier, at the banquet? He opened his mouth to say something--but nothing came out. No words, no air...
He at least...had an inkling of how Jo felt. He could still remember, the night that his girlfriend had died...how he'd called her name, shook her shoulder frantically, done anything to just get her to wake up again...the sheer grief that had followed that...that was part of what Jo was feeling. What she had been feeling, in secret, for an entire month...
Ryder hesitated as he looked at Jo, his face holding a look of sheer concern, sympathy...sadness...and he carefully brought his arms around her shoulders, gently pulling her in for a hug.
"Jo...I'm so sorry you had to go through that..." he spoke quietly, trying his best to soothe her. "But please, remember...you aren't at fault here...it was The Inquisitor's doing, Jo, not yours...you didn't know..." He paused--thinking for a moment before continuing. "Jo...you know what? I believe...that in the end...I think that Claus still loved you. Deep down...it shows, since he trusted you...and only you...to release him...a-and yes...I mean release, Jo. The place we're living in now...we can't deny it--it's...horrible. This world is dying, Jo...but now, Claus...he isn't suffering anymore. He's at peace, finally, after all of that torment he went through from that damned Inquisitor...Claus is free..."
Ryder's heart ached. He could feel the sheer emotion coming off of Jo, seeping into his body. His voice quavered just slightly as he continued speaking.
"Y...You know...losing people is...really hard, Jo, I know...it's really, really, hard...but...think of it this way: So many people die afraid, terrified...just being randomly attacked...but Claus was different. You were going by his wishes. Even if he thought that you ruined him, Jo...you redeemed yourself. By going by his one, final, last wish to free him from this place...you've redeemed yourself to him. And I'm sure that he forgives you...wherever in Heaven he is now..."
Ryder took a deep breath, working to compose himself before his emotions got the better of him. He had to work on comforting Jo here--he wanted to make her feel better. He didn't know what he would do if he couldn't make her feel better--he just--he couldn't stand seeing her sad. He couldn't stand seeing her sitting there, wracked by sorrow...
"Listen, Jo...just...don't ever let anyone tell you that you're anything but what you know you are. You've always done your best to do the right thing, right? It's...what we all do...we all have ambition...we want to protect the people around us...that's why you first joined Paladin, right? You wanted to protect the people close to you...that's what you're doing now. You're leading Vulture Team, and...you're doing a wonderful job of it. You'll never be a murderer, Jo...at least...not to me. Not to anyone in Vulture...Have you seen how they look at you, Jo? They're full of...admiration, and just--Bunny, Bunny came back, right? Even after all that happened...she still came back, right? I don't think that that kind of friendship could be made with just a 'murderer'...do you?"
"You...You aren't a murderer, Jo. You're a protector. And a savior. And so many people would agree with me..." Ryder's hug tightened just slightly, holding Jo close. "...You asked why people call you a hero, right...? Well...it's because you are a hero. You...You give everyone hope...you've saved so many people...like Claus...you saved him, by setting him free...and...and you sure as hell saved me. Where do you think I'd be right now if you didn't come to me after Wynn and Ivy had died? I...I don't even know if I'd still be around...if you hadn't...so please, Jo...d-don't...blame yourself...you aren't a bad person, Jo...I can tell...you're a wonderful, wonderful person..." He took a deep breath, letting his head descend down until his forehead rested against Jo's shoulder as he hugged her. "Why else do you think I have the biggest, dorkiest crush on you ever? You're...you're a beacon of hope, Jo...don't berate yourself down...please..."

Gabriel shook his head slightly, but he was grinning and snickering quietly for Bravery's drunken silliness. He found it highly amusing, but he was trying not to laugh- he was afraid he'd fall over if he started laughing.
It took time and lots of stumbling for them both before they managed to reach their shared room, and Gabriel almost fell over when he finally pulled the both of them inside and then shut the door. "T-there," he laughed, grinning as he pointed Bravery towards his bed. "G-go on-"

She honestly couldn`t take it. Her body shook, trembled - it`s usual thing. She couldn`t hear much -- just her own threatening heart beat, the sound of her sobs and a voice resounding, tell her she was a sinner. She was, wasn`t she? She didn`t save anyone. Henry said it better than anyone, she made a mistake. A lot of mistakes. And she was going to pay for them. She was going to pay for them for a long time.
Jo couldn`t stand the thought of Ryder seeing her like this yet again. She hated her weaknesses. She wanted to be strong for him -- she had been trying so hard to be. Her body wracked with hiccups and sobs as she tried her best to wipe away her seemingly endless amount of tears. She froze, but refused to open her eye. She felt warm, inviting arms wrap around her gently, soothing every fiber of her being. Without a moments hesitation, she returned the gesture, squeezing her companion tightly, like her life depended on it. She felt like it did. She couldn`t shake her emotions off, so she just clung to him, listening as best she could. It was her fault, wasn`t it? No one told her to run a pair of scissors through his heart. Repeatedly, over and over again. That was her. She broke him. Again and again. She felt her shoulder`s rough rise and fall come to a slow stop, her eye fluttering open. The world was dying. She wanted to save it. That was all she ever wanted. It was that selfish desire to do great things that lead to the steady decrease in her life -- finally crashing and burning in No Man's land. Yet, she felt safe. She felt like she wasn`t alone. She felt less alone than she ever had.
"Ryder..."
Had she really saved him? She just didn`t want to see him live to become a shell of a man. He didn`t, either. Was there a chance that in his final moments, he did love her? Did he forgive her now? After everything she did, was that so much as possible? Jo exhaled deeply, not letting her grip on Ryder loosen for a moment. She didn`t feel deserving of that. Or any of this, for that matter.

Silent tears rolled down her face, her sorrow filled sobs having ceased. She was led blindly by ambition -- it taunted her, waved glory in her face and swiped it at the last moment. But, it landed her here. And she was thankful for that. So very thankful. In that moment alone, she just.. felt accomplished. Like it hadn`t all been for nothing. She could die then, and truly by at peace.
She didn`t want too, though. She truly, dearly, did not want too. "I.. thank you, Ryder..." She squeezed him tightly, not wanting to ever let go. That`s all she could ever ask for -- assurance that she gave someone a glimmer of hope. That she played a part in making someone`s world a better place. That was her calling, her purpose. She pulled back slightly, not fully letting go just yet, just to gently kiss the top of his head. "Thank you so much..."

Ryder looked up, giving Jo a sad smile, nearly overcome with emotion himself, too.
"No problem..." he replied to her, his voice still quiet. "Caring about you is...well, it's the least I can do, really...I hate seeing you sad, Jo...so, if you ever need anyone to talk to...just know that I'm here for you."
He hardly knew what else to say. He felt like he and Jo had reached a whole new level of understanding--they'd each poured their hearts out to each other on multiple occasions, and comforting Jo felt like natural instinct now. He felt like he could just stay there and talk to her forever about everything, if they had the time. This had been a long journey--a long journey that had started for him the very day that he had stepped into the Vulture Bunker, all of those days ago. It felt so long ago...practically like years...even if it really wasn't...so much had changed, and now...
When he had first entered No Man's Land, Ryder had thought that he'd never feel anything like love again for any woman--but now, he was proving his past self wrong.

Gabriel chuckled as Bravery went and flopped over, shaking his head slightly as he walked- or rather stumbled- over, touching the edge of Bravery's bed to steady himself. "You should t-take your shoes off-" he suggested, poking at the blue-haired superhero's feet.

Bravery kicked his shoes off into the air, and they landed harmlessly onto the ground. He seemed half asleep already as he reached a hand out towards Gabriel--and dragged him onto the bed, only to cuddle up close and hug him. And boy, that was one vice grip of a hug--he wasn't about to let go.
"Nighty-night..." he yawned, then drifting off to sleep, not loosening up his hug-grip at all.

Gabriel blinked as Bravery's shoes went flying, following them with his eyes with a small laugh. "Well that's one way to-- Ack!" Gabriel yelped as he was dragged down, his already inhibited balance only helping to make him collapse on the bed beside Bravery. Then he was promptly hugged, and he blinked a moment before smiling contently, even if breathing was a tad difficult. "Night night, Bravery dear... Love ya'..." he murmured happily, wrapping his arms around him in return before leaning forward just slightly to plant a tiny gentle kiss on his lips. It looked to him like Bravery was already asleep though, but he didn't mind- he simply nestled his head against Bravery's shoulder and fell asleep, smiling happily.
Of course he had forgotten about the hangover he would probably have in the morning...

Emilia arrived back at the base, and got off the horse without saying a word. She seemed very angry. "Let's go Chelsea. It's time for some rest. Tomorrow the training intensifies, and I want you to be ready and well rested." Emilia said as she took the horse and gave it some water. "I stole the horse from some carnival. It looks like that they were about to eat it. So I decided to give it a new life." Emilia explained as the horse drank the water desperately.

Elliot didn't seem to say a word to Bunny "..." in truth he didn't understand why Jo let her back in. He felt bad about it, but he hated her. He didn't want anything to do with her, and he did not want to talk about it. Elliot just sort of softened his glare at her then muttered "See you later..." before walking away, leaving his food behind as he walked over to his room, closing the door and locking it. He was fine with this.

"Wait Elliot, please listen!" she called, but he was gone. Bunny sighed, pounding her fist on the table. "Damn it...I knew it was gonna be tough, but not this tough." she let out a long drown out sigh, and continued to eat her food in silence. Once she finished, and dropped by his door.
"I'm sorry I betrayed your trust...I care about you...all the same." she stood for a moment, trying to collect her thoughts, and went to her room. Still the same. She saw the stack of files was still on her desk. Might as well study a bit.

Kat yawned and woke herself up. Ow did her neck hurt. She looked around, seeing as that she was the only one, and then smiled. Perfect. She could do things...naughty things. She slinked back into bed, pulling the covers over her, and then all that was heard was giggling.

Chelsea slid carefully off the horse once they returned to Carrion Land, not meeting Emilia's eyes with her own. As Emilia said that training would intensify the next day, she nodded, then pet the horse gently as Emilia explained where she'd gotten it. Still, her mind was elsewhere at the moment. Chelsea was thinking about Boris.
He had actually seemed quite kind! Very sincere, and...sweet. And on top of that, unlike so many other people, he hadn't babied her just because she was small. He had treated her like the adult she really was, rather than a child. And that earned him her respect. It had been forever since she'd been to a picnic...she kind of wished that she could have gone with him...still, Chelsea knew that Emilia's worries were valid, so she wasn't mad at Emilia. Chelsea knew that she would just need to figure out some way to go see Boris again some other day! And if Vulture and The Family really were in an alliance like Boris had said, then that would become a lot easier than it would have once been.

Jo continued to hold Ryder, looking down at him with a teary eyed smile. She made a brief hum of acknowledgment. She felt like she wasn`t alone in all this. It was a pretty alien but strangely comforting thought; anytime she was troubled, she didn`t have to be alone. He was here for her. She previously frowned upon the thought; but, she now felt like a large burden had been taken off her shoulders. "By the way, the reason you have the biggest, dorkiest crush on me is because you`re the actual biggest dork..." She shifted, pressing her forehead against his.
She wasn`t sure how she felt about Ryder`s apparent feelings towards her. They were both major players in a gang war -- was it safe to have loved ones? If her experience was any indication - no, no it wasn`t. Apparently, your loved ones didn`t even have to be criminals, but they could still be dragged in. What would the rest of Vulture Team think? She didn`t want any weird rumors about them going around or anything, though. That would be kind of hard to avoid if she was going to insist on them going into her room every time she wanted a simple word with him. She was sure, however, that she wasn`t too keen on the idea of Ryder leaving her room just yet, even if it probably was pretty late at night at this point and they sort of touched upon everything that needed to be said. It was late, they`d probably have to get up early the next day to inform everyone of their alliance with Black Dragon and the Family, and prepare for god know`s what else. "... Do you wanna watch a movie with me?" Okay, or that.

Ryder smiled, letting out a small, quiet laugh as she cleared up his position as the actual biggest dork. It was probably true, too.
He liked this feeling of closeness, even as they fell silent for a moment. It was...really nice. Just knowing that you had somebody to depend on...Strangely enough, he didn't even feel tired. Even after all that had happened, he felt wide awake for some reason or other--no matter how late at night it was. He knew that he'd probably regret it in the morning, but he didn't want to go to bed just yet.
When she asked if he wanted to stay and watch a movie, he paused for a moment, then just give her a big grin.
"James Bond, right? Count me in."

Without really waiting for a response, Jo pulled away from Ryder, stretching over him to reach for a rather small remote control that had landed on the floor at some point since they migrated to Carrion land. She turned her miniaturized television back on, humming softly as she rewound through about half of 'From Russia, With Love'. She started from the beginning, watching with extremely focused interest as she mouthed every word, threat and sexual innuendo for about... five minutes. Then she flopped backwards onto her bed, staring up at the ceiling in silence. For about a second. "Okay, so, was Ivy okay earlier? I mean, I saw you guys talking, and I didn`t really want to interrupt..." She trailed off, solemnly reminding herself that when she finally did get to speak to Ivy, the girl had mistaken her for her mother and then asked her name. As much as it pained her to admit it, she just didn`t trust the greenette the same way anymore. She never did get that ointment, either...

Ryder looked over at Jo, somewhat confused as she flopped backwards, then listened to her speak.
"Oh, Ivy? She's...well, I'm pretty sure that she's fine. And as you know, apparently dating Pugsy." He gave a small laugh and shook his head. "The two of them are so ridiculous...maybe just ridiculous enough for each other." He paused again, as if collecting his thoughts for a moment before continuing to speak. "I'm just...really glad to have her back, you know? She might be a bit 'out there' for some people...but just hearing her call me 'Ry-Ry' again...well, I felt better then than I had all month." He shrugged, then looked to Jo with a small smile. "I kinda feel like I'm back to my old self again. It's...nice."

Jo crossed her arms bitterly, trying to desperately resist the urge to rant to Ryder about how she wasn`t fond of his childhood friend being all googly eyed for Ivy. She still didn`t ship it. At all. If she saw that greasy scumbag so much as look at her a certain way..! "Well, that`s. . . ... good." She mumbled, unsuccessful at hiding the hint of irritation in her tone. "Seriously, I`ve been trying to cheer you up for a month, then that guy shows up and gets all relevant and now..." She pulled herself up from her laying position, going back to sitting next to Ryder on the edge of her bed. "Guess I was just bad at it because, you know. Psychotic rampages and all that good stuff." She wouldn`t admit it, but since the appearance of Ivy again, she too had found herself a little calmer. She actually started smiling again. Of course, her default expression was still a menacing glare, but it was something. Her bad jokes were back, too. And here she was, having a conversation with someone she considered a good friend and she hadn`t even threatened him yet!
