Smile's eyebrows rose just slightly when Jasper's mood changed suddenly, and then the silverette up and left. Smile looked after him for a moment, just a hint of confusion playing across his features, before he shook his head and sighed, standing up off of the floor again, and brushing his pants off. He picked up his music player, placing it down onto his bed, then standing in the room with his arms crossed, not entirely sure what to do now. The rest of the team had gone off somewhere, and now Jasper was gone, and he was here alone with...well, someone he didn't know. Which didn't make him very comfortable at all.

Malena was escorted by guards into the barracks, where they left as soon as her hand cuffs are removed. She stood there and rubbed her wrists absentmindedly, when she noticed Smile. She really wasn't sure what she should do, so she walked over to an empty bed and sat on it, her eyes scanning the room, already taking in the cameras, looking for a blind spot or anything to keep her mind busy. After this had become boring, her gaze wandered to Smile again, and against every natural instinct, she got up and walked towards him, trying to get his attention.

"Hello, um, fellow team... member. I'm Malena Lezaeta, new recruit, or member, however you like it."

She was unsure whether to offer her hand for a handshake, so she let her hands loose by her sides.

The entrance of yet another person that he didn't know into the barracks definitely made Smile feel still more nervous--and he really wasn't sure of what to do. Should he go after Jasper? He wasn't sure whether or not he really wanted to do that. But, before he could really decide what he wanted to do--the girl who had just entered the room was approaching him. He turned to her, his expression less than excited, as per usual, although on the inside he was kind of considering how he wanted this first impression to be.
"Oh...hello. It's...nice to meet you..." Well--he'd tried. He glanced over Malena's shoulder, over at Wei, who was still across the room, then looked back at Malena again. "So...Paladin recruited you two, too...? At zhis rate, he'll be turning zhis 'task force' of his into an army..." He sighed, looking away for a moment, before glancing back at Malena. "Vell...velcome, eizher vay. You're both more tolerable--er--polite...zhan...certain...members on zhis team..." It was clear that Smile really didn't like a few certain members on the team--but as far as Malena and Wei went, he was alright with them so far. Not that either of them had said very much so far--but Smile would be glad to see some new members who weren't quite so loud...

Wei watched as Jasper left the barracks, he didn't feel guilty for the intrusion--who cares for his peace of mind. Wei's eyes looked at the man's back with wonder and wariness in the same instance. No one here could be trusted. The Criminals. The whole lot of them. Wei partially thought about his safety in a place like this--but not for their misdeed. Wei was well aware of his own, but he was knowledgeable in their prowess in the heat of battle.....No moral judgement worried him, but rather their ability .

For a moment it was Smile and Wei, and awkward moment for Wei, as the man was clearly one of the newest members and still an outsider to their group. Never on for introductions Wei stayed rather silent as he began to search for a new roll of bandages in his back pocket. If the man could blush his cheeks would be redder than the blood that stained his black suit. Wei's scarred face turned away from the man--almost ashamed for his timidness and his outer looks, ashamed for his inability to act like a hardened criminal and inability to create any sort of mutual bond.

He left out a small radiator like heat as he sighed a gust of warm air. He hastily fiddled with his new bandages in order to cover his burned face. He looked over as he saw one enter the room. A woman this time. Another criminal bound by chains. She seemed interested in Smile for a reason..... Wei squinted and held focus at the two.....waiting for something, but not knowing what

Malena noticed that there was another person in the room, Wei, but didn't say anything to him.

One person at a time. she thought to herself, almost turning back and waving to him.

"Oh? How many people are in this?"

She asked, acting as if she hadn't already read up about everyone in here.

This must be the German fellow...

Smile noted that Wei had taken notice of them, but didn't say anything. As Malena spoke again, Smile turned his attention back to her, then replied,
"Nine in all, if you count zhe three of us...it's going to be getting crowded in here..." He sighed quietly at the thought, frowning just slightly. That would be a problem, wouldn't it...? He really didn't like crowded spaces... "Vell, at least Inna vill have somebody to bunk vith now, I suppose..."

Malena nodded, counting the beds. Inna was the Russian lady. Charles had mentioned that half the team was on a mission, but that's all he had divulged.

"Great, I'm looking forward to meeting everyone... Speaking of everyone, do you happen to know where they might be?"

She asked Smile.

Smile's frown lessened somewhat as Malena spoke again, and his face became more neutral. Honestly, he was really pretty okay with her--which was really saying something. This was a much more calm, civil meeting than the first one with the whole team had been.
"I believe zhat zhey said somezhing about 'Carrion Land' on zheir vay out...if zhat helps at all. I believe zhat zhey're only going for a visit, zhough...vhich is a bit odd, to say zhe least..."

"Why would a small exclusive task force be going anywhere for a visit?"

She pondered out loud.

"Vell, our leader is zhe previous leader of Vulture Team...so I assume zhat's she's visiting some friends zhere, and Paladin vanted some people to go vith her to ensure zhat zhere vouldn't be any funny business..." Smile replied, then shrugged slightly. He honestly wasn't sure on why everyone had been so keen on going... "I really don't understand vhy, zhough...ve may even end up fighting zhem sometime in zhe future...everyone going zhere and making friends isn't going to make it any easier for zhem vhen ve do..."

Wei looked at his palms as to gain courage to speak aloud, a small hiss vacated his mouth as he began to speak. It was a small peep "Why would Charles allow that behavior....He seems like a man to care less about such trivial things--yet he's a man with ears and eyes littered about. Is it possible this is a mission....or a ploy?" He spoke in questioning of their motive. Again his doubt in the expertise and duty of his co-workers made him wary.

He looked towards Smile partially avoiding eye contact. "Why not kill them now? End it all. Gain our freedom....Yet we sit here awaiting them to return with smiles and sentimentally tugging at their hearts....How can we trust them?" He went back staring at his hands. "Weakness in this world seems like a death sentence. Yet...they are now coddling their enemies...Our enemies. How does that make us look? How does that assist us in our goals....?" He questioned Smile and Malena. His questioning was a bit anger filled, sending out embers from his mouth--flares from his toothy muzzle.

Wei went back to fiddling with his bandages. His eyes never connected fully to Smile or Malena. It gave him distance from them--like a feral animal who stared with a snarling gaze based in suspicion. He had nothing left to say or of importance to say just one last sentence.

"It's a sordid taking of actions, it's not only their freedom, but all of ours--It seems selfish of them to even go there.."

Malena nodded. She guessed it made sense, and his answer satisfied her, so she stopped abruptly and looked at Smile.

"I like how you think kid."

She told him, giving him her attempt at a sincere smile. When Wei spoke she turned to look at him, and she listened quietly until he finished his rant.

"If Charles has allowed this behavior, then he must have a reason, have some respect for the old man."

She argued. There was no sentiment in her voice, but from what she took from her interview, Charles Paladin was not an unreasonable or stupid man, and in Malena's book, that was worth quite a lot.

Wei continued to avert his gaze as Malena spoke words that Wei would never understand. Respecting a man like Charles..It's as if one were to enjoy damnation and torture.
He tore off his bandages with a bit of spite his mangled face of charred skin. It was hideously disfigured due to flames and fire. His gnarled teeth bore no hate for Malena, but served as a remind as he slowly walked towards her.

His flesh....disfigured by such brutality. His eyes transformed to hollow pools of what could have been.
"I tell me. Can you respect someone who would do this to a man. To transform him into such a hideous creature. Charles doesn't deserve respect...Don't dive into hell with that man. It burns and tortures you."

He sighed as turned his back towards. How would she know, how would she know of Charles's disregard of human life....of his own cruelty. Soon she would know..... Wei thought. He held his forehead. He looked at her at with a bit of remorse--not much but it was a start.

"My apologies, I meant nothing by that...You shouldn't be so....Trusting of THAT man's intent." He slowly skulked back to his bed and realigned his bandages. Embarrassed by his outburst his voice quieted and slowly drifted as he whispered

"If were going to be working together...You can identify me as Wei..." he began to reach for his strange scabbard and blade. The mummy man began to meticulously clean the pair as he tried to forget his terrible introduction...

Smile had his arms crossed as he watched Malena and Wei speak with each other, remaining quiet as he listened to them. He hadn't reacted to Malena's compliment, although he did take it into account. Still, he stayed quiet, even all throughout Wei's outburst, until the man was done. He paused for a moment, then spoke, an almost uncomfortable air on his voice,
"Of course, I don't find trusting Paladin so easy, eizher...zhat goes for everyvone here, you two included...I don't tend to trust, in general. However...Vei...I vould not talk on zhis so lightly...not only are zhere cameras everyvhere, but Paladin can listen in on us any time he pleases, you know...I'm sure he's heard plenty of your opinions, and honestly, I'd really razher not have to clean splatters off everyzhing in here if he deems zhat you become annoying at some point. Don't mistake zhis as a threat--it's simply my thoughts." He hadn't seemed phased in the slightest when Wei showed his marred face, but at the sight of Wei changing his bandages, Smile did fiddle with the bandages on his own wrists slightly, going quiet again for a moment before speaking, "...You may call me Smile."

Wei indulged in some silence after Smile introduced himself. It was a nice silence gave him some time to think. For him this was enough interaction to make the man feel....existent. He liked Smile way of doing business. Staying on your toes was perhaps the best way to survive this land. Or alternatively choose a side that someone like Charles is on.
He let out a somber voice as he spoke
"I saw the man call down a giant wave of destruction. Like some sort of...I can't explain it..." He spoke as he cleaned his zombie blood stained blade. "Like a column of pure sunlight crashing down. Me and Charles watch from the Family's Mansion. It wasn't strategic or to eliminate a threat. He could have used me in that regard." he stopped cleaning the strange high tech blade for a moment. He looked toward Smile and Malena with hapless eyes.

"Before the eyes of the Family's Leader.....She saw the power of Charles. A man calling down such fear inspiring might on his playing grounds. A giant blast which came from the sky.....I wonder who he killed in that instance. Not even a lick of guilt in his face, did he even think about the people he killed in that single call. A press of a goddamn button...." Wei spoke like a heart broken prophet of the end, telling of divine judgement and the finicky nature of God. To him Charles was a omnipotent creature. Creating life. Subjugating life. Taking life. Commanding it....He kept thinking about that one time he ask if Charles wasn't like the rest. Less human. Just like Wei himself

"Smile....Is it wrong that I have aching pains in my chest when I think of that man? Something that....makes me fear for my own existence....?" Wei began to sound like a child asking questions, unknown of terms like fear and hate....It was what he felt though. Fear and Hate for Charles. Wei's whole demeanor did seem child like though. Enough that the question of his age or origin would be in question. Wei would rely on the Task Force growth now, or alternatively the orders and form of Charles.

He slowly went back to cleaning his blade, he looked as if he was child looking for solace in a world gone mad....A world he couldn't understand

Smile listened to Wei carefully, not exactly looking at the man as he did so, but taking in every word of what the man spoke.
"...He lacks guilt, I think...because he realizes zhat everyvone in here is bound to die at some point, anyvay..." he said as Wei told him of the destruction that Charles had wrought. "He eizher doesn't care, or he sees it as some kind of sick vay of ending suffering...He doesn't care for zhe people here. He's like us, at least, in vone vay...ve all vant somezhing. Zhat's vhy ve're all here. Each of us vanted somezhing so desperately zhat...vell." He looked at Wei, then raising his hand to tap gently at his own temple, indicating the bomb that sat somewhere deep within his cranium. "Zhere is no...shame exactly, for your heart aching. However...in zhe end, it might hurt you. It's all about...learning how not to care. Paladin is already a master at zhis game...and if ve plan to get through zhis, ve're going to need to learn to play it, too." He sighed heavily, crossing his arms again and looking away slightly, his usually neutral expression taking on a bit of a wistful element. "Zhat's just...how it's got to be. At least for now."

Wei felt a relief as Smile showed a bit of indulgence in his lamenting. Smile seemed like someone who distant from the crowd of criminals that lied below paladin's all encompassing tower. Wei couldn't agree with Smile fully, but he somehow....he felt where he came from.
This strange connection. It was different. Softer and lighter. It was when Smile tapped his temple that his eyes finally saw the name of such an feeling.
Empathy.
"He told me once that it was nigh impossible to control people. To sway the masses was the only exception to that rule. I...cannot understand your...your...." He sat on the bed as he stopped cleaning his blade. A bit flustered as he was unable to find the words he was looking for Wei gave an air of innocence to himself for that moment, the worries of Charles watching flushed away by their conversation. He went back to cleaning his blade as he found the words "The emotions...that you go through. It is a harder task for me, but I know of them. I respect that, your....guidance. But no amount of reasoning for his actions will ever dismiss the atrocities he committed, commits, and will commit--Did he promise you freedom as well? Is that one of his ways of getting something he wants? Is he a man of his word, will we see the outside world....?" He had said outside world as if it was a strange concept to him, something that intrigued him greatly--the emphasis on the subject and rather repeated questioning was strange....As if he knew nothing of the outside world.

He felt that Smile held the answers, being his senior in age and time on the team. He didn't exactly look up to him, but soon saw his wisdom that Wei lacked. A guiding figure for the moment. Here Wei found Empathy. Here he found something a bit closer to what he wanted in his first days of life.

As Wei sat down on his bed, Smile moved backwards a few steps, sitting down on his own bed, putting his elbows onto his knees and relaxing his posture somewhat, letting out an exhale of breath. He looked over at Wei from across the room, listening to the man speak. And as the word 'guidance' met the air, a flicker of surprise crossed Smile's face. He'd never considered himself to be a role model...not for anyone, really. So, to him, calling this conversation 'guidance' almost felt...strangely alien. As Wei spoke on Charles, Smile waited for him to finish, then spoke,
"It's not zhat I forgive him...it's just zhat...for me, killing has become more..." He paused for a moment, looking down at the floor before he continued to speak, slowly and thoughtfully. "I can't say zhat I know anyzhing of your situation or vhat you've done or been through...but many of us on zhis task force are beyond redemption." He paused again, then looked back up at Wei. "...Myself, for instance. I've killed thousands. At first, it vas self-defense...zhen it became paranoia...and zhen...paranoia turned to almost...sport. And yet, zhe reason zhat I'm here...it's not even about my own freedom. I couldn't care less about vhere I am, but...vhat he promised me..." He paused a third time, this time seemingly weighing his decision of whether to say what he was about to say or not. "...I need to find somevone. Somebody...very important to me. I have no idea vhere she is, and if I don't get to her soon...I can't tell vhat might happen to her. And if I have to kill people or risk my life in order to get to her...zhen so be it." He let out a deep sigh, disillusionment swimming in his eyes. "I'm not sure vhat zhe ozhers asked for, but ve all had vants. So does Paladin. Zhis is all just a means to an end...eizher ve all get vhat ve vant...or ve die." He was silent for a moment then, before looking away again and mumbling, "But zhis is all getting razher sentimental...and I'm sure zhat you'd razher not hear it."

Malena had backed away while Smile and Wei were talking. The conversation was getting too ethical for her taste, she really just didn't care. She assumed that Smile and Wei were fine without her input, considering she really didn't have one. She walked around the bunker. Picking up random things, staring at cameras, she was really was't doing anything specific. But even this bored her. She needed to work, that's how she stayed sane.

"Gentlemen, sorry to interrupt, but any clue when our comrades will come back?"

She asked them.

Wei looked at Smile with a bit admiration. Wei stared at the man wondering to his past, to the man himself, and to his motive for staying alive and active in this world. To Wei, Smile was more experienced in life to feel a flourishing amount of emotion--the desire to protect someone. Smile could have easily not have chosen this path, perhaps even ending his life--but he didn't. He had something to go on for..
"Can you believe this is the longest conversation I had? It is also became the most interesting. I am...fascinated by your motivation. I can't find any other way to put it. I am not sadistic in this sense..." Wei hung on the words he spoke like child awaiting a story's grandeur. His burnt lips curled with acknowledgement of Smile's actions and the term of his employment with Charles.
"You are a wise man, you have experiences I haven't yet to have--hopefully I will experience these bonds you share with this woman. I cannot say your actions were wrong in it's beginnings. You made the choices you made, what you sought best at that point. I hear....honesty, tiredness and also remorse--but for whom...I cannot say." He didn't want to insult Smile in any form, but if they were going to be venting some rather pent up confessions then so be it. When Malena gave her two cents in Wei found no answers for her, she was given silence as an answer.

Wei left a long pause for the moment to pass. A scientist entered the doorway. He was followed by a posse of white gowned assistants. Looked as a band of ghost stormed to the door's entryway. They looked towards Wei. The image that was etched across his face was of incomprehensible annoyance. This moment allowed Wei to recover from the peaceful talks he gained with Smile. Wei thought of only of the reality he had placed in.

Wei glanced toward Smile, disappointed in the turn of the events. He sighed as he followed the group to their destination.

Wei gave a final word before he left "Smile." he gave a slight pause "Thank you"

Jasper had just returned and started walking into the barracks when the scientists came and took Wei away, and he sort of stood quietly to the side and watched, curious- but he put it to the back of his mind as he sighed, slipping inside just after the group had gone with a neutral expression. He noted that there was someone new there, quickly tapping his cybernetics to identify her. Ah. Wonderful. His expression didn't change, nor did his pace falter as he very simply walked inside, climbed to the bunk above Smile's that he had claimed as his, and flopped down face first. He was so done.

Smile looked to Malena as she asked her question, but then Wei was talking, and he looked back to him. As the man spoke, Smile's neutral expression ever so slowly changed to something somewhat of surprise. And before he could say anything in response to the man, he was leaving--and had paid him his thanks. He sat there quietly on his bed, trying to figure out what this all meant--when suddenly, Jasper entered the room again. He watched as the man flopped down on the bed above him, and after a moment, he prodded up at the bed.
"Vhat, you're not going to go along vith everyvone else on zhe visit?"

Malena watched as Wei was taken by the scientists, and she felt a a familiar twinge in her stomach, a puzzle. She shook her head clear, and saw Jasper come in and lie down on his bed. Ah, another team member. She stopped walking and studied him for a bit when Smile started talking again. Malena drifted towards them, until she was besides their bunk. For a few moments she contemplated saying anything at all, but eventually she spoke.

"Well you look spent."

She observed aloud.

Jasper lifted his head slightly only when he heard Smile's voice addressing him, and with a sigh he forced himself to raise his head and speak with him. "Why would I go? I don't know anyone there- they'd all just hunt down their friends and I'd just be there, awkward as fuck and bored. No thank you," he grumbled, still scowling before he allowed his gaze to drift to Malena after hearing her speak. "... Thank you queen of the obvious--" he complained softly, still frowning as he suddenly grabbed a pillow and held it over his head.

Suddenly... BAM! The door was opened and there was Emilia in all her glory. "Back." she said as she looked around while she dropped off her stuff. She noticed a new person in the room. "Hello. My name is Emilia Melchiott." she said as she went up to Malena to shake her hand. "Are you a new member?" Emilia was trying to be as social as possible.
