The Brave and the Bold Episode 1 - "Of Fish and Men"

New England - Sundale

A quiet little berg on the shore in New England, most famous for its clams and ice cream, not eaten at once hopefully. It's a warm, innocent town that lives up to his awfully happy name. Many often visit this place just due to how completely nice it is, it's happy, full of good food, and seems to have almost no pollution whatsoever. It truly is the perfect image of the all-american town... or is it? What dark secrets lie within Sundale? Are there dark forces at work here...? The Esoteric Order of Dagon lies deep within the darkest depths of this seemingly harmless town... how far does their corruption go?

It is night, a lighthouse shines brightly in the sleepy darkness, warning ships of the land. Only but a few lights seem to be on in Sundale, most of the town is fast asleep. This innocent little berg doesn't seem to have any use for a night life. The waters around Sundale are calm... nothing but a few relaxes waves and the ocean breeze. Near the shoes of Sundale... a hand emerges from the water. It is not that of a human, it is scaly and slimy. Slowly, a large being, standing at at least seven feet emerges from the water onto the shore. This monstrous fish creature is called a Deep-One.  A civilization of amphibious beings whom had built might civilizations and cities far before mankind had even left its caves. It walked further into the shores, letting out a light growl as it heard a noise in the distance, it had not noticed the figure standing right behind it.

"..." There she stood, monstrous in form, with glowing crimson eyes and tentacles out from her head, she had two sets of eyes and two sets of mouths. Strange dark magic seemed to be oozing from her. Her tentacles swatted the Deep One into a grouping of rocks, the creature's hardened body crashed completely through them "How dare you walk on this earth you disgusting scum...!" her rage-filled voice echoed through the shores, it sounded unnatural, as if two voices were speaking at once. The Deep One quickly got up on its feet, growling intensely at her. A malicious smirk appeared on her face as she said "You just wasted your only chance to run away..." she pointed her staff at the creature, unnatural spheres of dark magic appeared in front of it before shooting out towards the creature. It jumped out of the way, the dark magic spheres instead hit a nearby house, causing it to collapse on itself. "Tch...!" this only mildly inconvenienced the woman, she continued to shoot blasts at the monster as it constantly dodged her attacks.

Meanwhile, Elspeth was out on the beach with her Father, walking along the surf. This was where they always went for their trip, and they both loved it. They were eating icecream and chatting away as they walked.
"It's real pretty tonight..." she said, looking up at the sky, looking at the moon. She pondered to if her Mother was watching them. As they were about to turn onto the board walk, Elspeth heard something. A scuffle of some sort. She quickly turned to her Father. "Father! Something is coming! Get the Coast Guard to get everyone off the beach! I'm going to stop it!" she started to run toward the monster, dashing as fast as she could. " Heaven's bare witness to my plight! Allow me passage! I am the Carmine Knight!" She started to transform as she made it to the beast, and fired a blast of Holy Energy at it.

"Tch... STOP DODGING!" Alison yelled to the creature as it continued to move out of the way, despite the destruction she was causing, she continued to shoot chaos blasts at the monster, and she kept destroying entire homes. The creature let out a rather odd gargly laugh at Alison, only to be hit by a holy blast from behind, sending it flying forward, landing on its face. Alison however, did not seem to give a shit about him being dealt with and continued to shoot out of pure rage. She immediately shot at the Deep-Ones direction, but since he had fallen down, she just ended up shooting chaos blasts directly at Elspeth "Disgusting filth... DIE!""

Elspeth moved away from the chaos blast, watching its path as made the sand erupt. She grit her teeth.
"By Lighting and Thunder will you be thrown. By Wind will you be scattered. HEAVEN AND EARTH!
" A ball of holy energy formed in her hand, and got bigger and bigger. She aimed at Alison. "Rightious Incantation: BLESSED BLAST" She fired, and the blast went behind her, where a creature was. She ran toward the girl. "Please stop your rage! We can take these creatures together! Please calm down, you'll put innocent lives at stake!"

Alison lowered her eyes into a glare when she realized that Elspeth was in fact there, she hadn't even seen the woman until prior to her attack. Meanwhile the Deep One actually avoided the pinkette's attacks and quickly dove into the water, where he swam deeply into the ocean. Alison had in fact not noticed this either, as she was now focused on Alison because she saw the girl as nothing more than a nuisance "Get out of my way!" she barked out to Elspeth. The tentacles seemingly coming out of her head suddenly lifted up then swatted at Elspeth "You're in my way... anyways... I could care less about the well being of this town..." she spoke to Carmine Knight in a mutter "If you insist on getting in my way however... I'll destroy you too!"

"Listen, I wish to help you and protect this place. Innocent people can get hurt, and I don't want that. Please, calm down and listen to me." she said, trying to be as gentle as she could, cause seeing what this girl could do, it wasn't going to end well if she didn't stop it. "I beg of you...please stop...tell me what is going on, and I will help you fight! I promise, I will swear an oath, please." she continued to plea

Alison looked to Elspeth with a heartless look in her eyes, all this pinkette was doing was being a problem "I said get out of the way... I don't have TIME for you!" she replied to Carmine Knight harshly. Suddenly, her eyes then widened... she slowly came to the realization that she let her eyes off the Deep One. She began to look around, quickly noticing that he was nowhere to be found. The parasitic warrior grimaced as she muttered "He got away..." before suddenly firing a chaos blast at Elspeth then jumping into the water. Before one could even blink, she disappeared into the sea.

"Please, I'm saying I can- AH!" she jumped out of the way, but her foot got caught in the blast. She landed on the sand, and looked for the girl. She was gone. "Damn it...guess that's the end of my vacation..." she went back to normal and got up, her ankle showing obvious burns, but she'd treat them later. She looked out at the sea for a bit. "Who was that girl fighting anyway?" she walked back to her Father, and they returned for the night.

"Ugh..." the next day, Alison Olmstead walked through the streets of Sundale. After the disaster that was the night before, she decided to stay incognito. The Order of Dagon was alerted to her presence now, that wasn't good. She had lost the element of surprise the moment the Deep One escaped. Yet another sigh later, Alison was deeply conflicted by her confrontation with that strange pink haired woman. She had some powerful magic, Alison could tell that much. She had no time for goody two-shoes who had no idea what they were getting into however. Plus, she may have inadvertently caught the attention of the Order by showing her magical powers as well. Well... that was her problem now. Alison walked into a convienience store, dressed in a hoodie to cover some of her face. She was looking for some sort of fish related snack... the hunger would only get worse if she didn't eat something, especially since she was eating for two.

The next day, Elspeth was out with her Father again. She was wearing a white pull over to cover herself before they went on the beach, and sandals. Her right foot had a large black bruise on it, which made Elspeth stumble a little, but not so much as to make it hard to walk. They closed off some of the boardwalk due to a 'mysterious bombing' that happened. Elspeth was saddened that she couldn't help more.
"I wonder if that girl is still around." she said. They both went into a convience store to grab some stuff for a picnic, chips and sandwiches. Elspeth was ordering her sandwich when she saw a girl with a hoodie on. That was weird, it was really hot out. Maybe she had a skin condition or something. Elspeth knew it was rude to stare, and waited for her sandwich.

"This sucks..." Alison whispered to herself... all these snacks... total junk. She hated all of them, with a passion! She began to grit her teeth, perhaps it was just time to find some fish to eat... of course she didn't have the money for that. She'd just steal some fish then, yeah! Alison let out a sigh and turned away from the snacks, there was nothing here of any use to her. As she turned however, she saw a familiar face. Her eyes widened in shock as Elspeth came into view, she almost even let out a noise, but she had to stay incognito here and not draw attention. After what she saw yesterday, why didn't she get the hell out of town? Oh well, it wasn't her problem now. Alison pulled her hoodie even more down over her eyes and tried to sneak out of the store.

As she got her sandwich, she saw the girl leave the store. She gave the sandwich to her Father, and walked out after her.
"Excuse me!" she called, waving. She hobbled only a little, but was okay to catch up. "Are you alright? You disappeared and...well, I know you don't want my help...but I'm going to help anyway with damage control...if you get that." she said, smiling. "Oh...uh...would you like to join us for lunch? I'll buy you something..."

Well, it looks like it was all clear! Alison took one more step.... and then HER voice echoed from behind her "Uuuugh..." Alison's entire body dropped as she grimaced. Elspeth listened, but she wasn't going to give up that easily. She took a few steps toward her. "At least tell me what the heck is going on. You owe me that much for hurting my ankle." she crossed her arms over her chest and got all sassy. "I wanna know who you bloody are and what those bloody creatures were, and why they're here! Because this is the first time I've seen something like this in this place. I've been coming here for years."

Alison furrowed her brows, this girl was just stubborn "Trust me... stay out of this..." she told the pinkette bluntly. She could care less about her ankles. She didn't turn back to Elspeth either, she did however stop her retreat from the woman as she kept on talking. This was more likely her just fuming at this point "You weren't supposed to see anything... you were just there at the wrong time... pft... come on..." Alison turned over to El, a snarky grin on her face "Look at the world around us... the monsters... the demons... the supervillains... fish people aren't really all that surprising now... are they?" she then once again turned her back on her "Leave this place and never come back..."

"I refuse!" Elspeth said to the back as she turned her back again. "I will not give up so easily! This place is special, and I will continue to protect the innocent and this place as I draw breath! If you try and harm the people here again...I will stop you too...as well as the creatures whom attacked you!" Those were her last words on it. At that point, her Father came out, withe the sandwiches, and Elspeth greeted him with a smile. She looked at Alison again, and gave a confident glare at her, before turning and walking away herself. However, she did throw some funonions at Alison before going onto the beach.

As Alison and Elspeth talked, anyone who was near the beach could see the waves acting strangely--it the ocean seemed to be getting more violent with its waves, and splashes of water surged up beneath the boardwalk, seeming to disappear beneath as if going on towards a source. As Elspeth began to walk away from Alison, a man in a mask that covered up half of his face blocked her path--standing at his full six feet, he looked down at the pinkette with dull eyes.
"You've gone and made yourself a casualty..." he spoke to Elspeth, his voice echoing strangely inside of the metallic mask. He looked over at Alison, then back to Elspeth, taking a step or two back from the girl and sighing heavily. "You know, it's true--you never had to get involved. But, there's no getting out of it now...The one thing that you two were right about...this town really does need you to disappear..." The water that had surged up and under the boardwalk had quickly made its way down the path--it began to pool at the man's feet, gathering and gathering at a breakneck pace. "Sorry to burst your bubble...but I'm going to have to kill you two now."

Alison grimaced to Elspeth, she was getting way too sassy for her own good "What if the people you were trying to protect wanted you dead...?" she asked in a light voice, she wasn't even sure if the Pinkette could hear. She took Elspeth's threats seriously... if she got in the way again, Alison would deal with her as if she were any other enemy. The girl didn't bother looking at the food given to her, she refused handouts... but then the waters began to change. Alison looked up to her hoodie "Do you feel that... it... it can't be..." she knew this was trouble. She ran over to the beach and looked to Benard... oh yeah he was trouble. Alison's expression became one of silent rage as she glared to him... he was like her... he needed to die. HE NEEDED TO DIE. But this wasn't the time or the place, not out here in the open. She noticed water was gathering around him, and there was a certain aura about the guy that made him incredibly threatening. Him telling the two of them that he had to kill them now only solidified what she already knew. Alison quickly ran over to Elspeth and grabbed her hand "WE NEED TO RUN... NOW!" he told her before literally running in the opposite direction from the guy. He didn't seem to even notice the father, which was good, she knew he would focus on the two of them. She didn't want to get that guy involved in this at all. Alison just ran into town, perhaps going into a more populated aarea would limit what he could do to them.

"Wha-?" Elspeth said as Bernard was coming toward her. She backed up a bit, taking off her sandals in the process. She glanced at her Father, who nodded. He ran away with the food. He knew he would be of little use here. "Y-you..." but then was grabbed by Alison and dragged away. After a second of flinching, she started to run with the girl down the boardwalk. She looked over at Alison as they ran. "Dutch Wonderland. We could go there." she said in between breaths.

Bernard watched the two girls as they began to run, then sighed heavily yet again.
"I hate it when they run..." he said, seeming irritated as the water at his feet began to churn---and then, he lifted up his arms, and the water suddenly shot him forth into the air. Water began to gather under him in waves that increased, pushing him forward and after the girls, flooding the street behind them with a massive wall of waves rushing down the road after the two girls. He was high atop at the peak of the waves, the bottom half of his body consumed by water, his coat-tails flowing out in the wind behind him, the water beneath Bernard moving at a breakneck pace as it pursued the two girls. "You think that running would be that easy?!" he called down to them as he pursued, pulling up a mass of water into his hand, the water seeming to freeze as he continued speaking. "You're on our turf, now--don't think that you can get the better of me!" The water froze into a spike, which he hurled down at the two running girls. The water bashed itself down the street, somehow staying within the confines of the road, not damaging any of the buildings, and actually seeming to pinpoint Elspeth and Alison with great accuracy as it raced after them.

Alison began to pant when she finally stopped with the running, she thought they had gotten away "G-great... but let's just... huff... focus on... getting away from this guy, yeah?" and then she heard benard's voice and a big shadow hovering over them. Alison's eyes widened, she slowly turned to see Benard, standing atop a huge wave which was now coming right for them "My god..." she muttered, before holding Elspeth's hand tight and making a run for it once more. This was guy... he was impressive, she hadn't fought a Deep-One like this before. She noticed that a spike was shooting right towards them, and Alison quickly jolted into an alleyway on the side, avoiding the attack. She ran through the narrow alley with Elspeth, bringing her out onto the main street of Sundale. For some reason, this guy's water wasn't destroying the entire town, he had to have a sharp control over it. Alison looked to the alleyway in which they ran out from, on alert "We need to get away from this guy..." she spoke in a low mutter. Was now the right time to bring out Parasite? Now... it was likely people were watching, she couldn't transform, not if HE was watching.

"Are you alright?" Elspeth said as Alison was panting like a madman. She was panting too, but she still cared about Alison. "Thanks...you saved me-" however, it was time to run again. Elspeth ran alongside Alison as they were trying to escape the fish man. Once on the Main Street of Sundale, Elspeth had a plan. "This way!" she pulled Alison along through the streets, making a pretty sharp right turn. Elspeth was watching the stores go by, and finally turned into one, an ice cream parlor, and went inside. She looked over at Alison. "We can't stay here...we need to bloody do something...running forever isn't going to cut it." she said, tired, and looked at Alison.

As the two girls ran into an alleyway, Bernard let out an obnoxiously loud sigh, lifting up his arms again so that the water rose higher--moving in an arc over the row of buildings that the girls had passed. The water made its way straight over the buildings, only just barely misting them with a light rain-like spray, then crashing down on the other side into the street, carrying Bernard with it. He was super ready to try to drown them--but then they went into the ice cream parlor. Oh. He paused for a moment, bringing all of his water into a large, frozen cube of ice, then leaving it on the street as he walked up to the shop. He paused at the door, then opened it up, the bell ringing as he did so, and stuck his head inside.
"You know...I'd really rather not destroy the only ice cream place in town...so I'd really appreciate it if you two could maybe come out onto the street...? That would make my life a lot easier...precision control in small places like this is kind of a pain..." Considering that pretty much all of the natives of this town were kin--Bernard really didn't want to take away their only ice cream place. He figured that no matter how gross fish people were (himself included), they still deserved ice cream. Ice cream was sort of a gift that needed to be treasured. And, since he was kind of a vegetarian, and it was hard enough to find vegetables in this place as it was...still...he kind of thought about it for a moment and realized that he was going to be in a heap of trouble if he let these two get away...He kind of scrunched up his face a bit under his mask, then let out a loud sigh. "Fine...have it your way..." And with that, Bernard raised his arms again, and the block of ice in the middle of the street melted into water rapidly. The water then surged towards the parlor, crashing in through the windows and quickly beginning to flood the building. "I'll just find that guy you were with earlier and make him pay for the damages, I guess..."

Alison's jaw dropped a bit as Elspeth suddenly began to drag her "Huh- whoa- wait-!" Alison frowned as she was brought into the ice cream parlor. Not only did she not like being dragged around by people, but she was brought into a dead end. Alison glared to Elspeth once they got inside "You just brought us into a dead end...! I just said we need to get away from this guy..." this was why Alison wasn't a team player, she absolutely hated other people. "Listen, you have no idea what you've gotten yourself into...! If we stop- there's a chance some others will join in on-" and then Benard entered the ice cream shop. Alison immediately turned to him, shooting a glare right towards him "Like hell I'd listen to you... I'm not going to rest until I wipe all of you off this planet..." Alison muttered before looking up at her hoodie "Parasite...! NOW!" suddenly, tentacles burst out from her hoodie and covered her body. The girl let out a few pained grunts, before emerging from the tentacles. She looked exactly like she did the first time Elspeth saw her. She pointed her staff at the back of the shop, a sphere of dark energy formed in front of it, shooting at the back of the shop and blasting it right open. There was the new opening! Parasite grabbed Elspeth with its tentacles before Alison ran out from the now blown up back of the ice cream parlor. Now that she wasn't holding Elspeth's hand, she found it much easier to run like hell from the guy. She ran out towards the town's church before having parasite let go of Elspeth next to Ali "Listen. Stop being dumb, for ONE SECOND... and listen to me on this one... run away! This entire town is going to gang up on us..."
