Cesare let out a light laugh when Diana asked how he could cook in the dark "You get used to it in Tenebris... its kinda dark around here..." then she asked for a candle to be lit "Yeah, no problem." he told her, walking over to a cabinet and taking out some matches, before lighting one of the candles. With this, the room was now dimly lit, though the darkness still seemed to overtake the light, as is in Tenebris. With this, Cesare went back to cooking "So... how are your wounds feeling...?" he asked, stirring a pot.

"A bit better..I think my thrashing around 'as made some of them reopen...but nothing more rest cannot fix yes?" she said, sitting down again. SHe kind of just enjoyed the silence a little, the occasional clatter of pots and spoons. "So...when did you become the mayor of Tenebris? I know little of the town, so...I'm curious I suppose." she said, resting a little bit back in the chair.

Cesare started finishing the stew, stirring it just a bit more before looking up to a wall clock to see the time "Yep... should be about time!" he cheerfully spoke out as he put on some mittens and picked the stew pot up "Lets move to the dining room..." he told Diana before walking out of the room and right into the dining room. He put the stew right on the table then called out "Blode! Dinner is ready!" before taking three bowls out and laying them out at the dining room seats "I... became mayor, after the last one passed away. Sadly. It was only a few years ago..." he told Diana before sitting down "I was just his assistant, but there was a whole scandal that broke out between the priest and the mayor... when it was all over... no one wanted to be mayor... so the position was just thrust upon me."

"A scandal?" she asked, and thought for a moment, thinking to the zombie priest. Was that the same guy? It was then that the aroma of the stew hit her. It smelled...okay. A little spice and it would be awesome. She smiled however. "Thank you. You're very kind."

"The scandal... was that he died..."
Came a quiet husk of a young voice, belonging to a petite child with a red-eyed stare that went for miles. Her gloved hands gently grasped the door to the dining room- as she tilted her head, just hardly peering in. Her attention was quite notably on Diana- her gaze sizing up the woman from head to toe, her mind bustling with alarms and warnings. After a few more moments of still time- she very tentatively stepped forward, her bare feet squeaking against the clean floor as she headed over to the chair she seemed to know was assigned to her, or she had claimed as her own at some point. Using both hands, she pulled it out- jumping up into her seat, then scooting the chair back in, placing her hands upon the table as if to secure her position there. She paused a beat, glancing up at Diana again- Blodeuwedd stared at the swordswoman a noticeable amount, not tearing her gaze away as she placed her hands on the bottom of her chair, and scooted closer to her father, almost wearily.

Cesare nodded to Diana when she asked about the scandal "Yes-" and then Blodeweudd spoke out. She pretty much said what he was going to tell Diana, albeit Cesare would have been more subtle, he didn't like talking about death. Not after the war, he had enough of death since then "Ahem..." once his daughter had scooted towards him, he spoke again "Yes- both the priest and former mayor passed away... most believe that they killed each other... The Goddess used to be very important around here... there was a power struggle between the church and government. In the end neither won." he told Diana as he poured stew first for his daughter, then Diana, then finally himself.

Blodeuwedd turned to her father at the 'ahem', staring at him next, almost questionably- but then Diana spoke to her, which seemed to actually shock her a bit. She jumped slightly, turning to the raven haired woman, her red eyes darting between her face and gloved hand. "...Y-Yes..." Was her only real reply, in a near inaudible mumble. She looked to her father once more- as if asking for approval- before gingerly reaching for Diana`s hand... and seeing that it was sort of a lot bigger than her own. This was disgruntling- so, instead, she grasped Diana`s thumb, very stiffly shaking that. Yes-- that was right. With a curt nod, she turned back to her meal, twirling it`s contents with her spoon before very carefully bringing it to her lips.
Aside from the fact that social interaction didn`t seem to be her strong suit- there was... something most definetely off about this girl...

Cesare smiled to Diana, nodding, before sitting down himself and working on the strew "Its the least I could do Miss Hainsworth- I mean, you are offering your services for the betterment of the city- you deserve much more than a musty old room and some stew-" he told her as he had some more strew. Then the rain began to let down, it seemed like today wasn't going to be quite as rainy as usual. Which meant that the festival was going to be much more enjoyable, with no rain making everything murky "Well... it sounds like the rain is letting down! That's good considering we're going out today right?"

Diana smiled as the little girl shook her hand, and then she started to eat her stew. Like she thought, it was...okay, but not the best. She ate though, since it was food and it was given to her.
"Thank you again." she said, enjoying the food and company. "As yes, this festival right? What exactly is the occasion we're celebrating?" she asked, curious.

Blodewedd was mostly interested in her meal and the texture of the tablecloth-- she never really liked when her dad had company... she didn`t do well with other kids- adults were a new level of intimidating. She seemed to show the slightest bit of interest when going out came into topic- her unchanging neutral expression twitching into the tiniest smile- but, only for a moment. Up until Diana spoke up again, asking about the destival- the little girl`s interest returned, but in a much more subtle manner facially. "It`s...a day of the dead...festival..." She was really only interested when the dead were brought up, it seemed--

Cesare was almost done with his stew, he was quite sure he was going to have seconds. Then Diana asked what the festival was "Uh-" well this was going to be awkward. Then his daughter spoke out... which most likely made things even more awkward. So Cesare spoke out, in a slightly awkward voice "Uh- yeah... kinda- festival of the dead...! Yay! Yeah- it's Tenebris... what did you expect?" did we mention he was being awkward?

Diana nodded, looking at her empty soup bowl.
"Ah...yes...so, is it celebrating the dead or just...the dead in general?" she said, and took some more stew, sitting down and eating more. She wondered how much longer she was going to be here. She didn't have to stay, but she was worried about the town. She wanted to help these people, but still...she let out a sigh, her thoughts leaving her head.

Cesare let out another sigh as his daughter started speaking about death and goats in general "Ahem- erm... yeah. Its a day of the dead festival. There are animals in general- it's actually pretty cheerful. No judging yet- trust me on this-" he told her before picking up the bowls and utensils, bringing them to the kitchen. Cesare wondered how long the sky over Tenebris would be devoid of rain, perhaps this would be a dry day? That would be most fortuitous. After cleaning the dishes Cesare walked back to Blode and Diana "So- you guys get ready to go- I'm ready." he told them with a small smile.

Diana was never one to judge people, nor the culture of a place, until she had a solid opinion and an overbearing need to express it. Honestly, right now, she was kind of just eh. She wasn't fond of Tenebris, but both Cesare and his daughter had been so kind, making the best of it, she didn't feel like she had a right to judge. She nodded and smiled to Cesare as he took the bowl, and got up.
"Allow me to change my bandages, if you would." she said, and went up the stairs and quickly did so. "I 'ope I can get a sword or something soon. Not 'aving one is a pain." she said, and then returned to the two. "I'm 'ere, shall we?"

"I like the goats, though..." Blodeuwedd quietly remarked, watching as her father gabbed their bowls away. She sat, tapping away at the table as the dishes were being done-- when Cesare asked if they were ready to go, she straightened- looking up at him for one long moment. Then, to Diana as she spoke, and just as quickly left upstairs-- in this time, Blode hopped off her chair, scurrying over to the entrance of the manor. There, sat a coat rack- with one fuzzy hat placed comfortably on top of it. From here, she hopped upward- grasping the hat, and pulling it down and onto her head. After taking a moment to straighten it, along with her scarf and gloves- she stood by the entrance, looking at Cesare and Diana expectantly and awaiting their leave without another word.

Far away in the Wastelands of the South, a convoy of vans drove through the desert, through the blazing desert. They followed a thin road, transporting weapons and explosives meant for a tribe on the coasts of the south. An entire platoon of mercenaries armed with both firearms and magical blades sat within the vehicles, ready to defend it with their lives. By all means, it would be suicide for a single individual to try anything on the convoy. And that's why Fernir was hired. One of the most infamous mercenaries in the business, known as Fernir the Jaguar, known for his efficiency and lack of mercy towards enemies and bystanders alike. He was the man you hired when dirty work needed to be done.

The convoy continued to travel down the road, Fernir was standing directing in the middle of the road, only coming into sight over the horizon seconds before the front driver could see the mercenary slowly lift his armament. A grenade launcher, aimed directly towards the front van. The driver immediately got on the radio, only for a grenade to be shot right into the front of the van, blowing it up in seconds. The first van was now nothing but a metal husk, rolling down the road before stopping right in the middle of it, putting the entire convoy to a stop. Almost immediately, gunmen began to flow out of the vans, moving to defend the convoy. Fernir, a sadistic grin on his face, could only let out a "Pfft...!" before launching several more grenades into the convoy, destroying gunman and van alike.

The mercenary then slowly approached the line of vans, firing into the convoy until he ran out of ammo, once he had used up his grenade launcher, he just threw it aside "Is that really it...? I'm being paid enough gold to feed a starvin' village! Haha! What a joke! You warlords and scumbags have too much money in your hands if you can afford to pay me that type'a doe just for this shit!" once he had gotten close enough, swordsmen began to flood out, circling Fernir. They were in steel armor, armed with blades embedded with enough magical energy to chop a tank in half. The mercenary looked at the men quickly surrounding him, he must have been outnumbered at least a dozen to one "Heh..." Fernir motioned for the men to attack "Come 'n get me!" yet, this mercenary's confidence only served to intimidate the swordsmen, whom began to back away. Finally, one of them was courageous enough to charge Fernir, only to be grabbed and flipped by the mercenary. Within that one move, everyone else quickly followed. Two more swordsmen were the first to get up close, swinging simultaneously towards his throat. Fernir grabbed both blades, breaking them within his grasp before quickly kicking both men away. Then, a whole stream of enemies charged at once, only to be individually slashed by Fernir's claws one by one.

This left but one enemy left. Fernir smiled to the man confidently, motioning for him to attack "Come on... you scared?" he taunted. This quickly invoked a reaction, he charged Fernir, jumping up then swinging down upon the mercenary. Fernir sidestepped out of the way, then quickly followed with a claw slash towards the swordsman. His opponent blocked the claws with his blade, followed by a low sword swipe towards Fernir's feet. The mercenary then caught the blade with his feet claws, then stomped down to the ground, breaking the blade. This was followed by a punch towards the swordsman's face. The Swordsman parried the punch, then quickly followed up with his own punch towards Fernir. Unfortunately for him, the mercenary quickly caught his fist, crushing it within his grasp. Finally, Fernir rammed him into a nearby van. With that the fight was over. Fernir grabbed his opponent by his throat "Say my name..." he muttered to the swordsman.

"I..- I...-!"
"SAY MY NAME BITCH!"
"Fernir-"

And with those words, Fernir snapped the swordsman's throat in two. With that over, Fernir looked to the convoy, now just a collection of flaming wreckage "Well... that was a bore!" he spoke out, to no one in particular but the dead. Walking away from the flaming wreckage that was once the convoy.

"How would you like an assignment that wouldn't bore you to death then... Fernir...?"

Fernir heard a calm, professional voice, coming from behind. He turned, only to see a well-dressed man in red standing before him. Did he miss a target? No... this man was... different "Who are yah...?"

"Does that really matter, I've been heard you'll do anything... given you're paid enough..."

Fernir smiled to the man, crossing his arms "I'm listenin'..."

"I've got a job in Tenebris, during the day of the dead festival coming up... I need you... to make someone disappear... you'll be paid graciously."

"Ain't that the city full 'o Heroes right now...?"

"Oh yes... its chalk full of unwelcome guests at the moment... so... are you interested, sir?"

"Oh yes... you've caught my attention... lets talk about payment! And- oh- hold on..." Fernir pulled out an explosive device from his belt, throwing it back into the convoy as he and his new employer walked away. As they walked away, the explosives went off, reducing the wreckage of the convoy to ash. Fernir didn't even look back as a holocaust of destruction erupted behind him.

"I'm comin'... Tenebris!"

Cesare nodded to Diana as she said she wanted to change her bandages "Alright!" then he walked over to the entrance, following his daughter as she quickly got ready. He smiled to her as she watched her "Well someone's in a hurry...!" then Diana arrived from downstairs. With everyone ready, he opened the front door, walking out into the streets of the city. He looked to Diana and Blode, his hands in his coat "Alright, its just a few blocks away... we can just walk if you don't mind." he told them, before walking down the streets, they were a bit wet and murk from the last few hours of constant rain, but at the moment it wasn't raining. It was likely that the streets would dry up if the absence of rain persisted "I think today's gonna be a dry day! We haven't had one of those in a long time!"

Diana nodded and walked with Cesare and his daughter into the town, looking around the town, seeing if anything was different due to the festival. She smiled and just kept walking, enjoying the some what clean air from the rain. Then, in the back of her head, something kind of snapped, and a feeling of paranioa. It was like an itch that wouldn't go away. She scratched the back of her head, but still.
"Wow..." she thought to herself. "Pull yourself together Diana...this is a fun festival...no need to feel this way." she smiled and looked at Cesare and Blodeuwedd. "I'm quite excited." she said to them as they walked.

Cesare walked in front of Blode and Diana, leading then down the streets of the city. The sounds of crowds and cheerful music actually began to get louder and louder until they suddenly walked into a street that would surprise anyone used to the dark and dreary sights of Tenebris. Colorful tents littered the streets, carnival attractions were spread out as far as the eye could see, there were shows, shops, dances, and even contests. Imagery of skeletons decorated everything, yet nothing about it seemed very morbid, the skeletons seemed almost cheerful. Cesare then turned to Diana "This festival is one of the few days that the factories in Tenebris recognize... this is one of the few free days the people here get. One of three in the whole year as a matter of fact. So everyone celebrates this day as much as they can." he told her, before turning to Blode "Where do you want to go first...?" he asked, smiling to his daughter.

Diana smiled and looked around. The colors were clashing horribly with the Tenebris atmosphere, but it was very funny to look at. She couldn't help but be really...cheerful. She looked at Blodeuwedd. "Lead the way, I'll just follow behind you." she said.

Blodeuwedd followed the two out of the manor and into the streets of Tenebris, her gaze glued to the dry pavements below their feet. She usually really liked the puddles and murkiness... the lack of rain was kind of concerning. She only looked up as the sounds of the festival grew in volume- and once she did look up, she was positively entranced by all the decorations and attractions. However, due to the increasing number of people- she gingerly reached up, enveloping several of her father`s fingers in her own hand, for a sense of security. Since--that was kind of her version of hand holding, apparently--
"...Mm..." She mumbled as she was asked where to go first- her squinted eyes gradually scanning over the assortment of activities at the festival, her mind working to decide on just one for now. Finally, her sight caught on one particular game- one of those shooting ones that allowed for multiple people, with stuffed animal prizes to be won and stuff. Except, the animals all on display were definetely just skeletons of actual animals- they were cute anyway! Blodeuwedd had her eye on one of the stuffed skeleton goats- it seemed. She tugged on Cesare`s hand, as if to gain his attention- then gestured to the game with her free hand, not speaking a word.

Cesare looked down to Blode, giving her a kind smile as she looked around for an attraction to go to. She picked the shooting gallery "Oh dear-" Cesare was pretty bad at these. Actually, not pretty bad... VERY bad. He let out a nervous laugh before patting her on the head "Sure sweetie..." and then he strutted right over to that shooting gallery and gave the sketchy looking man some coins for all three of them to play "Here sir- erm- for all three of us...!" he told the man, who took the coin and nodded to them. Cesare then got one of the water gun thingies before looking to Diana and Blode "Haha... ready when you are...!" he told them, looking like an awkward dad guy.

Diana looked at the shooting gallery a little confused. She had never done this kind of thing before. Ever. She shot a gun for the first time when Syythe needed the cuffs off. Was this any different?
"Oh...uh..." she walked over and looked at the gallery, seeing it was like a game of some sort. Shoot the target and move your cursor right? Or was it just plain shooting? Diana let out a sigh and took hold of the water gun. "I'm ready, I think?" she said, acting a little awkward herself. Dueling dangerous mercenaries and fighters were what Diana was good with...not having fun. Diana was terrible at having fun.
