Sector 8 Overview

Back in the 1980s, Detroit came under attack from a mysterious villain known as "Maelstrom". Intent with leveling the city, he attacked viciously, clashing with the city's valiant MSI team for a whole day. In the end, the villain was defeated, however, the entire MSI team was left dead, and the city of Detroit was leveled along with the loss of millions of lives. Detroit was left a burning wreckage, what was once a city was simply a long plain of ruins. Refugee camps littered the premises, bands of ruthless criminals ruled over the weak, dangerous terrorists and anarchists began to call the place home. Any efforts made to rebuild the city by the government were met with terrorist attacks that resulted in hundreds of casualties. Detroit was rechristened "Sector 8", every MSI team sent to protect the area would be wiped out. With a 100% fatality rate and no signs of progress as far as rebuilding the city goes, the sector simply became the place MSI sent its least promising graduates as sacrificial pawns to keep the level of chaos in the area down. Now, a new team has been assigned, under the watch of MSI familiar 'Bird' and the Intellectual Magistrate Maximilian Talorre, this new team seems destined to join the hundreds that have perished before them. With a 0% chance of survival, the new team must learn to settle into a new, cruel, dark world. One where the lines between heroism and villainy are blurred. Will they restore order to the land without order, or will they perish like all before them?

Special Rules

Due to the particular setting and theme of this series, there are specifics towards the characters that can take part in this series. Please note that these rules are IN ADDITION to the original rules Emu has already posted.

1. MSI sees Sector 8 as a lost cause, they regularly send their least promising magical girls to this area just to keep a presence. As such this should reflect in the actual characters, they should be less powerful than the magical girls from the other two series. This is a "street-level" team, in other words they will be dealing with drug dealers, terrorists, and organized crime more than alien invasions, as such the team should reflect this. What we need to stop an alien invasion is different from what we need to investigate a terrorist organization. (I should point out that they would be no less badass, their powers are simply weaker. Batman's powers are weaker than Superman's, that don't mean Batman is a pussy compared to Superman.)

2. This series will skew towards the magical, however it will have science fiction and modern-era elements that will be stronger than in the other two series. As such, feel free to place magical girls that aren't quite 'magical' here. I will be more lenient towards non-magical magical girls here as they do have a place in this series. (However, I do hope me saying this doesn't result in all of you making a complete team of non-magical magical girls here. We do need variety.)

3. This series will have a format similar to a western tv series moreso than anime. Most episodes will be standalone or two-parters. Though there is an overarching plot, this RP will rely heavily on having a  rogues gallery. As such, I would highly recommend putting in plot hooks for potential villains in your character's backgrounds that can be built upon here.
