Trial of the World Warriors (Open RP, contact Pan before posting)

They are called World Warriors.

For generations, they have stood as a symbol of world peace, of an honorable society that stretches across the globe. Japan, China, The USA, Brazil, Portugal, even Antarctica, World Warriors come from every corner of the globe. But what are they? Simply put, World Warriors are fighters from across the world, all registered under the WWS to do honorable combat against each other. It is the way for those who choose the path of the warrior, under the WWS, one can attain wealth, fame, and even power. Fighters meet from around the world, train at dojos together, and even compete against one another in tournaments. Indeed, this is a world where the path of a martial artists is a common occupation. One can even gain a World Warrior license at the age of 10! Martial Arts are taught in school, there are katana racks in airplanes, and its not uncommon to see World Warriors doing battle against each other in the streets, as if one is living a real life Kung Fu movie! Yet, in the nation of Enkindu, the World Warriors take a whole different meaning. Enkindu is the center of the WWS, the originator of it, and the nation where fighters from all over the world meet together to test their might! Every country across the globe is represented, every fighting style is represented, and from this nation the whole world can watch the epic clashes between both style and culture.

It is in this nation of Enkindu that our story begins in the Great Capricorn Cup Tournament... where a collection of World Warriors will meet together for the first time. An initially run-on-the-mill tournament evolves into something much more sinister with the unveiling of a new organization that could change the world forever:

World Warriors

Essentially, they are real life fighting game characters. Often starting their training at a young age, World Warriors are travelling martial artists whom compete and train and live together with others of their own kind. They may have differentiating goals, styles, and cultures, but they are united in their lifestyle. The WWS (World Warrior System) provides them the funds they need to keep up with their life style, though the more successful their careers are, the more well funded they tend to be by the system. Generally speaking, it's accepted that the official "final goal" of a World Warrior is simply to become the greatest fighter on the planet. In actuality, there are a multitude of reasons one could follow this path: glory, power, wealthy, revenge, fun, love, obsession... there are a vast multitude of personalities within the World Warrior community. However to say they are without legitimate conflict is to be foolish... there are many paths one can take as a World Warrior:

Honor
and
Brutality

The Dragon
and
The Tiger

The Paths of Honor and Brutality are two diverging ones... Honor is the path of a hero, one who follows the light, while Brutality is the path of those who have fallen into the darkness. Likewise, the Paths of The Dragon and The Tiger are diverging paths as well, much like the Yin and Yang, these two paths represent the individual's true spirit. The Dragon is revered for his patience and wisdom, like Yin. Likewise, The Tiger would be wild, like the earth to The Dragon's heaven. Once one becomes a World Warrior... they must choose between Honor or Brutality... and then The Dragon or The Tiger... though it is far more likely that they had picked those paths long before even becoming a fighter. Rivalries between these paths are extremely common... especially Honor and Brutality, both of which making up half of the World Warriors.

There are several jobs one has as a World Warrior, all of which rely on one's individual skill and talent, yet at the same time require resonance with others in the world. There are at least FOUR tasks a World Warrior must commit themselves to: The simplest is to simply win tournaments spread out throughout the world. There are a multitude of different tournaments with different rules and themes set up throughout the globe. Second, is to train under senior World Warriors known simply as "Masters", mentors with gyms and dojos set up throughout the world tasked with training up and coming World Warriors to prepare them for tournaments, championships, and their future travels. Third, there are Championships, titles which are earned and kept by individuals or even groups of people. They are often challenged and defended at tournaments, if the current holder of the Championship is beat then the victor now has it, to which their goal is to simply hold onto the Championship as long as possible. Lastly, and possibly the most important task a World Warrior has: to travel the world and meet others of their kind. World Warriors are tasked with finding others to befriend, compete, and train with... to exchange cultures and techniques... to build social links with others so that they may become a whole and well-founded individual.

The Path of Brutality has long been considered a glitch in the system that is the WWS. They tend to be out for glory or profit, they cheat, they kill, and as a whole they do not operate anywhere near how one is supposed to act as a World Warrior. Though there are technically no clear factions or choices that actually differ "Honor" from "Brutality", Brutality is just the term given to villainous World Warriors. And amongst these there are no bigger threats than The Black Dragon Society. The Black Dragon Society is a criminal organization working within the WWS. Their motives and leadership are unknown, all that is known is that they were originally formed in China and are the Path of Brutality immortalized as an actual organization. For now, this organization seemed to be working in the shadows... however...

Okay, so this is a Martial Arts RP, if you haven't already figured that one out! Essentially, one can simplify No Man's Land into "What if super villains were a thing?", then one can simplify this RP into "What if fighting game characters were a thing?". A few notes one must know about this RP: it is open to all members of newts, whom can RP here freely. HOWEVER, please message me and talk about the RP and your character before doing anything. Also, you can only have one character unless stated otherwise for now. There are no extreme supernatural elements for now, such as Ki, Yokai, Dragons or the like (At least for now, keep in mind that Act 1 of NML didn't have ANYTHING compared to what we have now). However, that isn't to say you can't come up with entirely fictional fighting styles and even flashy moves that don't exist in real life. Realism is not the intention of this RP! Though also know that simplicity is also beauty, so dont' feel the need to make a flashy character just because you can. Some examples include a spinning wheel kick, pressure point blows that work like how they do in fictional stories, and a special punch that causes one's enemy's heart to explode after they take five steps. Shit like that. Yeah. Essentially, you're making fighters from around the world whose job is to simply compete and form social links with each other, though secrets lie deep within the system that hints towards a darker future. Oh, and just for reference, the Paths (Honor and Brutality. Dragon and Tiger) are just lingo for the RP, not actively used terms within the setting. Think of it like Heroes and Villains as well as Order and Chaos for Heroic Era. They are a way for US to classify character, we don't actually have villainous motherfuckers openly saying they're following "The Path of Brutality" here!

Great Capricorn Cup Rules!

This tournament will be a Round-robin tournament where every fighter will fight every other fighter at least once. The matches will be simple 1 on 1 matches in which the primary way of winning is to either knock out or submit your opponent. If the match is lasting too long or one of the fighters is unfit to continue, a referee can call the match, to which the match will be decided by judges. No foreign objects are to be used in this match, dirty moves are not allowed, any moves if seen by the referee will lead to disqualification. The matches will occur within a standard boxing-style ring, if one leaves the ring they have to reenter within 10 seconds or they will lose by disqualification. Every match won will grant the winner 1 point, the fighter with the most points will win. However, if the tournament ends in a draw, there will be further matches between the highest scorers to determine a single winner.

Saiko will never forget. He will never forget that fateful night where his life went to hell. He will never forget when he returned to the hideout, only to see his boss, reduced to a rotting cadaver, laying on the ground before his very own eyes. Stab wounds, bullet wounds, a crushed skull... there was no respect, there was no mercy. -They- stopped playing by the rules, so like hell Saiko was going to play by any of them himself. Saiko left his hometown of Satsugai, becoming a World Warrior in an effort to find his boss' killers: The Black Dragon Society. The largest criminal organization in the world, filled with some of the world's most ruthless assassins and criminals. There was no room for love or compassion for them. So Saiko was hellbent on his roaring rampage of revenge, he was going to destroy Black Dragon and kill anyone that got in his way! Which lead him to the Capricorn Cup, the man couldn't care less about these tournaments... but word on the street was Black Dragon was secretly funding this tournament. If that was the case, then he was going to track down anyone connected to The Black Dragon Society.

There were plenty of seats close to the ring for the competitors to sit down, where they could observe the action up close and personal. Not Saiko, he decided to lean against a wall behind the seats. "Tch..." the man grimaced as he watched the fighting inside the ring, sloppy, moves like that wouldn't mean shit in the streets. Too flashy, Saiko could read them a mile away. Shaking his head, the man looked up to the sky in boredom. He couldn't care less about any of this... he had to find his enemies, that's all he cared about. The Yakuza lowered his head to look at some of the other competitors, one in particular stood out. What seemed to be a a westerner who didn't seem like she belonged here at all. The man stared for a few moments before breaking out in light laughter and looking back to the room. She wouldn't last a round. Honestly, Saiko was suffering from second-hand-embarrassment watching these people... this was just... weak. Perhaps he could play along for a little while, it'd be entertaining at least.

The rhythmic thumping of the ball against Iago's toe managed to distract him at least a little bit from the amount of people that were very quickly filtering their way into the competitor area. He stood there, bouncing a soccer ball against his toe again and again, catching it each time it began to come down again--he definitely stood out if one were to see him, considering that he looked not only much younger than the others in the competitor section, but also quite a lot smaller than the rest. He was quiet, keeping his eyes turned to the ring, and his concentration on keeping the ball from touching the ground. He tended to do things like this when he became anxious--he'd been in plenty of tournaments before, both for martial arts and soccer--however, he hadn't been in something quite of this caliber before. Of course, his parents were plenty assured that he could do it--and come out on top, flawlessly, at that. Iago himself, however, wasn't quite so sure--but knew he was at least going to have to put up a fight if he expected to leave here with his lifestyle intact. In fact, he knew that his parents were going to be watching this tournament very closely--so if he wasn't on his best game, he was going to have problems.
For the moment, he felt a bit numb--he was trying to not let it get to him--he'd been in huge stadiums before, he'd heard crowds cheering before--but it didn't make any of it less daunting. He had to make it seem, though, like it was nothing. So, he kept a neutral expression--he had to remain calm. And if he couldn't remain calm--he had to at least look like he was calm.

Saiko rolled his eyes before letting out a yawn, this was boring as fuck. He wished this would get moving already "What a pain..." he muttered as he stretched his arms out. The psycho began to examine some of the other fighters around him... there was a short kid, one that Saiko would honestly feel bad about hitting if he had to. And then there was a Chinese lady, who seemed to know the westerner quite well. None of them looked particularly impressive... then again none of the typical generic karate guys he was seeing around him looked any better either. Looks could be deceiving though, which is why he took note of the three, they seemed to stand out. Slipping his hands into his pocket, Saiko got off from the wall and passed by the seats, shooting a glare towards the ring "This is just annoying... come on... why don't we get this started?" he spoke, to nobody in particular. It seemed his patience was wearing thin, to make matters worse, there was no sign of this tournament's patron. Which meant his lead on this tournament being connected to Black Dragon was going nowhere. Stomping his foot against the ground, Saiko yelled out "Oi! I'm bored! Why doesn't somebody entertain me!?" he yelled out as he suddenly shot a glare towards the ring. There were two World Warriors sparring, probably to entertain the crowd while they were waiting on the tournament. The yakuza slid into the ring, almost immediately scaring away the two fighters as Saiko opened his arms out wide, daring anyone to come inside with him "Lao! If you won't show yourself, then I'll have to start causing trouble until you do! Any of you guys wanna try me!? COME ON, ENTERTAIN ME!" he yelled out to the World Warriors outside the ring, leaning against the ropes with a big grin on his face.

Iago, despite the fact that he should have probably been observing the other competitors, was actually doing everything he could to ignore them. He couldn't let his focus break now--and yet, keeping it proved even harder as the chatter in the competitor section intensified--and Saiko's behavior actually made him miss a kick, it was so startling. His soccer ball dropped to the ground, bouncing over through the legs of people in the competitors' section until it stopped by Cass and Zhilan--where he followed it and picked it up, looking up at them shyly before quickly looking away.
"Sorry," he mumbled awkwardly, holding the ball with both hands carefully, not about to let it bounce off into the ring or something--if the ball went in there, he was at risk of disqualification--and that wasn't okay.
As Saiko did his thing, Iago sighed and rolled his eyes--he'd been to enough big events to know that disturbing the event never made the coordinators go any faster. Honestly, it would probably make things go slower. He paused for a moment, then spoke absentmindedly to the two girls again, "Can you believe this guy? What a jerk..."

Saiko cracked his knuckles occasionally making scary faces and feigning lunges at people outside the room just to scare them. It was fun, but then, a notably girlish voice called out to him. At least, he assumed he was "dye job'' "You got a death wish kid...?" Saiko spoke as hr grimaced towards the American Dragon, just in time for her to do all her flippy shit. He cracked his neck after it all, he wasn't impressed "Rules...?" the man asked, tilting his head to the side as he clenched his fists "Those rules can kiss my ass... listen kiddo, you got 5 second to get out of the ring before you get get yourself involved in shit that you DO NOT WANT IN ON, trust me!" the yakuza spit to the ground as he pointed towards Cassandra before slipping a hand into a pocket and letting the other one hang out. Cassandra wouldn't know it, but this was Saiko's fighting stance, and he was ready to strike.

 "My, my, what a rowdy bunch..." a voice spoke in a playful manner from behind Zhilan and Iago, Lao Jiu stood there, squating behind the two. He was pretty damn tall, considering he was at almost their height despite his squatting. His eyes were hidden behind his red ovaled shades, and he donned a mischievous grin that seemed to rub everyone the wrong way. He seemed pretty interested in what was going on in the ring, he was absolutely filled with childlike joy "I was just about to start the tournament... buuuut... this is just too entertaining~ I wonder who will make a bigger fool of themselves?" he spoke happily, before looking over to a man in a suit behind him "Get me a chair will you~?" the man in a suit happily obliged, to which Lao got on one leg and shot himself into the air. Mid air, the man took a crossed-legged sitting position, to which he neatly landed right into his chair. It was like a Chinese wire technique found in movies... except there were no wires and it was for a much less cool task than in the movies. Stroking his chin as he watched the two, the chinaman leaned against his chair "Somebody get me a snack! Something expensive! You two want anything? JEEVES! GET THEM SOMETHING EXPENSIVE!" he spoke loudly, and in quite a friendly tone to both Iago and Zhilan.

Zhilan seemed somewhat discouraged by Saiko's challenging--and Iago honestly wanted no part of that man's challenge. Not right now. He wouldn't be caught dead breaking any rules of any tournament--way too risky. He wasn't sure if the people that got involved in this would get in trouble, but it definitely wasn't planned, so he was even less inclined to get involved. Cass, however, seemed to think differently. He raised his eyebrows, taking on a rather surprised expression as Cass reassured him and Zhilan, then headed out to the ring. That was certainly brave...Upon hearing Saiko's response to Cass he frowned, furrowing his eyebrows slightly and speaking to Zhilan quietly,
"Talk about an edgemaster who's trying too hard...I hope your friend wins--" He glanced over at Zhilan again--only to see Lao kind of lurking behind them, which startled him enough that he fumbled his soccer ball and almost dropped it. He kind of just stared at Lao throughout the whole time that the man talked and flew into his chair and whatnot--the entire experience was just a bit confusing and sudden and Iago really wasn't sure how to exactly respond to it. However, he did realize that the guy was apparently getting them food, so he quickly spoke to the man in a short burst, "Uh--thank you--? Yeah--" He was also kind of in the midst of realizing that this guy was really high up on the ladder around here--he had to make a good impression, that could never hurt--that was what Iago's mother had told him, at least...

Saiko began to stretch his neck out, grimacing somewhat at Cass' words "I wish you'd stop it with the nicknames they're starting to tick me off-" he muttered, his eyes widening somewhat as he was dropkicked right in the face. All Saiko could think of was how damn high this chick could jump. The hit sent him stumbling back against the ropes, where he caught himself on and rebounded right off them, throwing a wild kick straight for Cassandra following the rebound from the ropes "NOW YOU'VE REALLY TICKED ME OFF LADY!" he yelled, the man's face practically turning red in anger and his eyes dilating. The man looked like a demon taken by rage!

Saiko didn't seem to appreciate Cassandra's comments, he shook his head, his face turning even more red in anger "OI! OI! OI! Don't you even start kid!" he yelled, letting out a chuckle as she recovered from his attack. She managed to take a hit without dropping dead, which meant this was going to entertain him substantially more than he originally thought. As Cassandra struck, Saiko was almost immediately reading her attack. She was going for a low blow, after years of fighting on the streets he knew when they were coming. At this point she was much faster and smaller than him so he couldn't dodge such an attack. So instead he started running at her from the side, minimizing the amount of damage she could do with her punches and ramming his shoulder into her like a rampaging bull "Enough talk! It ain't gonna get you anywhere Yankee!"

So apparently the man in a suit brought Lao some pretzels. Apparently they were expensive pretzels. It didn't matter, either way Lao was eating them now, and loudly. You could hear that crunching a mile away "Would any of you like some? It's expensive- at least I've been told so- unless this guy is a liar... are you liar!?" this man was obviously a little strange, as he seemed to shoot a death glare towards the man in the suit rather quickly. Lao shook his head, dismissing such thoughts as he got an ear of Carmelia's words "Hmmm... she is right..." he spoke, stroking his chin. The man stood up, at which it was a little more obvious how monstrously tall this man was. He was at least as tall as Saiko, if not bigger, though he was as thin as a scarecrow. Lao walked to Zhilan's side and lowered himself, to which he whispered to her "So... how would you like to be up first?" he asked with a wide grin on his face.

Clearly, Carmelia was no fan of Iago's nor Zhilan's--and not really Cass', either. However, he knew what to do in the face of hate--don't mind it. Of course, her comments bothered him, but he wasn't going to let it show. Making a fool out of yourself shouting at people who hated on you just made for bad media, as far as he'd been taught. So, he didn't respond to the redhead. Then, when Zhilan mentioned she wouldn't have money for an expensive snack, Iago began to speak,
"I could--uh...never mind--" he trailed off into a mumble, recalling that his parents hated him giving 'hand-outs.' They had plenty of money, so as far as he was concerned, sharing a bit wasn't so bad--but, his parents apparently thought otherwise...
He watched Lao's reaction with Zhilan, taking a bag of pretzels offered to him by the man in the suit who'd delivered the snacks. He opened up the bag, munching on a pretzel as he listened--and honestly, Carmelia was giving off even worse vibes now. That glare wasn't doing her any favors. He frowned disapprovingly, but didn't say much, sort of just sticking another ptretzel into his mouth and giving the woman a suspicious look before turning to look at the match again. He probably should have been paying attention from the beginning, he chided himself internally, knowing that he was going to have to fight these two eventually. Holding his soccer ball under his arm as he ate his pretzels, he found himself inching over a little bit closer to Zhilan, and further away from the older woman, Carmelia. Teenagers were okay in his book, but adults still kind of freaked him out a little bit.

Saiko rose an eyebrow as he noted Cassandra's words, if she didn't like being called a kid he was going to be a little shit and keep it going "KID! KID! KID! KID! KID! KID! KID!" he yelled in a mantra, laughing as he saw the results of his previous attack. The man hunched over and let out a light laugh "Come on! I didn't even throw a punch at yah! Are you this weak!?" he mocked her, before raising an eyebrow at the Yankee comment "Have some respect for the hair lady, for your information I'm Japanese and proud..." and then came Cassandra's attacks. The man didn't even try to block. In fact, he openly let her hit him, as if he was testing her. The man ended up stumbling back "Yeesh... that actually hurt... well then... it seems I underestimated you..." the man muttered as he lowered his head... his expressions seemed to be hidden for a moment. It almost looked as if he was tired, possibly even defeated... until the man rose his head. Cassandra would get a good look at his face, his dilated eyes, his tongue sticking out like he was a lunatic "Let's take this to the next level! 100 CRACK FIST! GYAHAHAHAHAHA!" the man suddenly took his hand out of his pocket for the first time, balling up both fists as he started to launch a flurry of punches straight towards Cassandra at break neck speed. It was nearly impossible to keep track of his fists, he was moving at a speed that seemed impossible for a man that size. It was impossible to tell, but the man really was throwing a hundred punches towards the woman at an impossible speed!
