Netherworld Chronicles (Pan and Levi 1x1)

It was a relatively cloudy day over the small, gothic-styled town--although this area of the Netherworld was often very cloudy or foggy, that didn't stop the people from having fun, though! A festival was being held--one that was to celebrate the new demon lord that had recently murdered the old demon lord and taken over power--because who doesn't love murder? Either way, the festival had all manner of fun, totally safe games like knife throwing and things of the like--and several stands were set up for food, or entertainment, and several other things for the festival-goers to enjoy. Everything still being prepared, though--the festival was to begin soon, and everyone was expected to be prepared by the time that it began, so, everyone was scurrying around preparing what they hoped would be a lovely celebration...!

Festival time...never really seemed any different than usual for Yuu. Yeah, there were more people around--and definitely more buildings erected for different purposes--but other than that, it was still kind of normal. This wasn't really his hometown--he was just visiting--mostly because his dog had dragged him there. The dog--Kira--had in fact dragged him miles from home to this other town. And he really hadn't cared much, and had simply gone along with it. Now, he was carrying the dog, who tended to get very territorial as soon as Yuu wasn't holding him. Yuu was a bit lost, yes, but--he didn't really care all that much. He continued walking until he reached a well near the center of town--and proceeded to trip over somebody who was lying on the ground there, nearly falling right on his face. He paused for a moment, then looked down at the witch laying on the ground, pausing for a moment before asking bluntly,
"...Are you alive?"

"Yeah, I'll get to it...sometime..."

"You were lying on the ground...you looked pretty dead..." he replied simply as he watched the girl sniffing at his arm, then make a comment about his laziness. "Is it really that obvious--?" He paused for a moment, cocking his head to the side for a bit to try to sniff at his shoulder to see if he could smell the lazy smell--what did laziness even smell like--? Either way, all he succeeded in was getting licked in the face by Kira--and then the girl in front of him was speaking again...that accent wasn't something he'd really heard before, so it took him a moment to process it... "......Oh--my name--?" Yuu had honestly never liked introducing himself. Mostly because, well...hearing his name for the first time often caused confusion among people due to the fact that it sounded like 'you'...but, he would go for the introduction, anyway-- "I'm Yuu...how about you...? And how are you planning on getting ingredients lying on the ground like that...?"

The name mix up came as expected--and although Yuu did give a sigh at it, he didn't seem to pursue it any further. After all--even when people just called him 'hey you'--it was still basically the same as saying his name, right? So, that worked either way. Kira wagged his tail at October as she got closer, and Yuu didn't seem to so much as flinch when she took one of his hairs--he didn't really care enough to do anything about it, after all. It was just a hair--it wasn't as if a witch with expansive magical abilities would be able to do anything strange with it or anything like that! No chance of that at all, nope!
"Your studies, huh...? I feel like I was supposed to be studying something..." He paused for a moment, thinking on that--had it been calligraphy--? Maybe not--zen gardening had just put him to sleep, and he couldn't exactly remember what he'd been looking into at the moment--considering that whenever he did try to start any kind of study, he tended to get bored quite quickly. ...No, wait, the calligraphy had ended because Kira had destroyed that one library, right--
October's large list managed to catch Yuu's attention, and he bent down, picking it up with one hand, while still holding his dog with the other. Both he and the dog seemed to look over the list, Kira sniffing at it. After hearing that she needed all this for the festival, Yuu looked up from the list, an awfully neutral expression on his face as he began to speak,
"It sure sounds like it's going to be hard finding all of these...are you sure you can--" He was suddenly interrupted by a disruptive single bark from Kira--who seemed a bit unhappy with his lack of motivation. "...Good luck with finding them--" Another bark. "...He can help you--" And another bark. Yuu looked down to the dog in his arms, his facial expression not changing much as he and Kira kind of just stared at each other for a moment, before Yuu looked back at the list, then to October, doing his best to feign excitement--which didn't come off all that well since his voice kind of stayed exactly the same. "Come to think of it, I need some of this stuff, too...yeah...for a...thing. Yeah...! So...I guess I should try to help you find them...or something...it's not like I really know which way it is to get back home, so I can't exactly go back to bed..." He paused for a moment, then looked down at the dog in his arms again. "Are you happy now--" And yes, Kira did indeed seem very happy. His tail was wagging again, and if not for the fact that this dog actually had quite the temper and could potentially become pretty violent--one would probably find it hard to believe that it belonged in the Netherworld at all.

Yuu began contemplating whether or not this girl could actually communicate with Kira--when suddenly a large bag was tossed his way. He blinked at it as it flew through the air towards him--then went ahead and side-stepped it, letting it crash down on an innocent passerby that had happened to be moving along on his own business behind the oni. Yuu took a moment to look at the downed man and the huge bag, then grabbed the bag with his free hand, lifting it up from the poor guy and speaking plainly,
"That looks like it hurt...What's even in here...?" He pondered about this as he turned to follow October, not even bothering helping the man up who may or may not have had a broken back from all of the stuff in that bag that October had tossed. A few yards down the road, he began dragging the bag instead of carrying it--because nobody's got time for carrying things--way too much effort. Either way, he went down the road like this, sack in one hand, dog in the other--just sort of following October down the road, not really caring where they were going, since he was a bit lost, after all, so it wouldn't matter either way. "So...do you do this festival thing often--? It seems like kind of a pain..."

"What are you going to do with a ton of bricks...?" Yuu asked, not really seeming to pay any mind to the fact that there were millions of Canadian souls inside this bag. The bricks were obviously far more interesting. Either way, he nodded slowly as she explained how much she hated Canadians--exploding maple syrup sounded like it could be a little bit entertaining. An awfully sticky practice, probably, but entertaining nonetheless.
As they reached the graveyard and October told him to keep watch, Yuu shrugged, then leaned up against a statue adorning one of the graves--only to accidentally break part of the statue off by leaning on it. He stumbled slightly, staring down at the statue shard for a moment before picking it up and trying to put it back into place--only for it to fall right back down again. He kind of just stared at the statue for a moment, and figured that probably nobody would notice--then turned his attention to October trying to communicate with Kira again. When October barked at him, Kira wagged his tail and barked back, seeming to be quite happy that somebody was talking to him. Yuu looked down at the dog for a moment, then looked back at October. "He says that you need to work on your pronunciation." Or, rather--that was what Yuu was assuming the dog was saying. He didn't actually speak dog. But he was pretty sure that he could guess what Kira was saying. You know--with context. And stuff. It was definitely a surefire translation method.

"I'm sure that with time you'll get the pronunciation do--" Yuu was interrupted by Kira bapping the bottom of his chin with his head. Apparently the dog didn't appreciate the random translation. Although being a dog, the thought that most commonly went through Kira's head was 'food'--he could tell that the lady hadn't been talking about food when she had seemed to offended, so obviously Yuu had done something wrong. Because, after all, food was the best conversation topic.
Yuu didn't really make any move to help October when she got smacked in the back of the head by the shovel--he was prettty sure that her hat doubled as armor of some sort. It was big enough, after all. It probably cushioned that whole blow and she was just being dramatic. Probably. Maybe.
Either way, soon enough, he was getting decaying hands shoved in his face, and he put the sack onto the ground for a moment to use the newly freed up hand to take the decaying hands from October. He thought about what she said to him for a moment, still trying to work through her thick accent--and the first word of it that occurred to him was 'poke.' So, of course, he was a bit confused, but started poking October with the decaying hands, anyway. That was what she wanted right--
"Who are we going to beat up...?" Yuu asked as he continued poking October with the decaying hands. "Who's the biggest loser in town? I'm pretty sure that I heard somewhere that the biggest losers cry the biggest tears..."
