Quality Time with Dad (1x1 Chee y Pan)

It has been nearly a month since Inna Dragovich has been sent to train under Kraven and the Ministry of Death. For nearly a month, Inna has had to endure working with a man that may be her father: a horrible Super Criminal responsible for the deaths of millions. Yet, he may be the only man on Earth who can teach her the secrets of controlling her Killer Gene powers. It seems as if her time under his tutelage has come to an end... until Kraven suddenly brings Inna to Sin City, where she is about to get embroiled into a plot that involves the rescue of 5 young children with the Killer Gene about to be sold away and the appearance of an old foe.

Sin City, a cheap, bright, gaudy city. It was basically a city that, if personified, was the type of scumbag you'd trust a squirrel with your money over. One second with your back turned to the guy and you KNEW he'd stab you in the back. It was that kind of guy, but as a city. Also he probably had a shitty mustache too. Not the city, the guy. Kraven had no idea how that mustache would transfer from guy to city, but he'd been here a hundred times before in his career as a killer. He knew what to expect. He had borrowed a truck from the Deathworshipers to get here, though he wasn't too pleased about returning to this city "Now remember, not fighting, no violence whatsoever. Unless I say so then it's cool. There's a reason we're here and it's not to make enemies with the entire city." the blonde spoke, looking over to his right. There sat Inna, whom he had brought with him on this mission rather than Cathy or Mocha. He could only afford to bring one ally on a mission like this, and he hadn't quite finished Inna's training yet. So he felt obligated to keep her around. He had not yet told her WHY they were here either, which he knew would no doubt grate her nerves. Yuri parked the truck in front of a hotel, for valet services of all things "Listen, I know you are impatient child... everything will make sense soon enough. But we can't speak. Not here, not yet. We'll be lodging at this hotel for the night, get the luggage." Kraven got out of the keys and handed the Zebra Freakshow a nice tip and the keys. It was important to leave that tip or you wouldn't see your car ever again. Yuri looked up at the colorful, gaudy hotel building they would stay in... it was surprising how gambling and tourism still stood strong even after the Cataclysm. Super Criminals, Warlords, and Mob Bosses from across the country traveled to gamble their hard-earned cash away at places like this. Kraven envied their stupidity "Leave the luggage with the nice spider looking man in the tiny red hat... we're going to eat before we go to the room." Kraven informed Inna before walking inside the gaudy casino hotel's lobby.

Inna immediately disliked Sin City. She had been quiet most of the ride here, and as they approached, she could practically picture the guy that the city would be if it was a guy...and he did, indeed, have a mustache. The Russian had slowly grown accustomed to Kraven, learning to not take every chance to try and murder him, but also carefully training herself to not get attached either, so she replied with a stiff nod- right, no violence. That was probably going to be a good way to keep her Gene in check. At this point, Inna wasn't sure why Kraven had taken her along instead of any of the other Deathworshippers, seeing how of all the people at the Cathedral, she was probably the least trustworthy, but she assumed it had something to do with annoying her and some sort of training.

"I am not your lobby boy.."

She pointed out as the blonde told her to get the luggage, however one look at the people that offered to take the luggage instead and she decided to take it herself. She grumbled for a bit as she took the bags, then reluctantly handed them to the spider person, hesitating just a second longer than she probably should have.

"Ees the violence O K eef they run away weeth our luggage..?"

The Russian questioned as she followed Kraven in, eyeing the spider person that took their bags before the door closed behind her. She was uneasy about this...then again she was uneasy about most things Kraven did. But anyway they were in the casino now, and she wanted to know what this was all about and why she had to wear civilian clothes...because those made her increasingly uncomfortable.

"Explanations any time soon..?"

As Kraven placed a hand on the hotel entrance to open it, he heard Inna question him about the luggage. The blonde came to a momentary stop before speaking "Well that would be called "theft", and yes I believe that would justify violence. I wouldn't kill him though... no... his employers would have a lot more fun with him alive if he were to show bad business practices..." Kraven then entered the brightly lit interior of the hotel, making sure to get one more breathe of air before entering. Because what followed was the smell of cheap cigar smoke and alcohol. Kraven motioned for Inna to follow, walking across the lobby as he did so. There was a clear, open, and rather large pathway that lead right into the casino. You could tell they put it in clear sight to get you right at the start. Yuri, however, was more focused on eating than gambling "In time, my child, in time..." he told the blonde as he entered the restaurant, which was rather fancy, but in a fake kind of way. They were immediately seated by a waiter and brought some menus "It has been sometime since I've been here... always hated the food... hated the people... but it's okay. We're not here to make friends... we're here to do a job..." he spoke as he looked over the menu, his voice growing darker by the moment.

Inna grimaced ever so slightly as she heard Kraven's reply- he still felt the need to remind her that she shouldn't kill people. She quickly shook the grim feeling away and sat down, wiping away the traces of the flinch that came from hearing Kraven call her "my child". She probably should have gotten used to that by now, but it still made her edgy.

" What were you doeeng here before..?"

She questioned, before coming closer to Kraven to ask him again.

"Da, thees job..?"

The ominous darkening of Kraven's voice hinted that she might be figuring out what was going on soon. The Russian looked at the surroundings from the corner of her eye, expecting every approaching figure to be an enemy...but controlling herself as she never would have been able to a month before.

Kraven didn't seem to be paying much attention to Inna, his eyes were focused solely on the menu. When the waiter came Kraven was quick to ask for a drink "Just get me a glass of milk." he told the man, to which he lowered the menu and looked to Inna "Yeah um, I'm quitting the alcohol. I've been told to stop drinking, it's unhealthy. That shit will kill yah, you know?" he told her, seemingly ignoring Inna's questions. Both of them. Eventually Kraven found what he wanted to eat and looked Inna in the eyes immediately after "Oh! And... I think it's fairly obvious why I was here. I was on a job, I was an assassin. That was before I found myself in No Man's Land." before he met Ryder, before he met Cathy, before everyone. He was a completely different man back then, though he looked back fondly on those days. They were much simpler. Yuri leaned back on his chair, letting out an awkward sigh before looking from side to side of the room "Soooo...." he was honestly attempting to make conversation. It was not an easy task when the one you were talking to happened to be Inna "Got a boyfriend?" Inna was like... a young person right? Young people had boyfriends, young women liked to talk about their boyfriends right? Kraven was middle aged, don't just him.

Inna arched an eyebrow at Kraven's order of milk, because what was a super criminal doing taking care of his health...by not drinking? Why anyone would choose to not drink was a mystery to her. She quickly put in her own order

"Vodka, the bottle."

She pretty much ignored the comment about alcohol killing you, except for a challenging sort of side glance. She then just sort of nodded as he confirmed that he was here as an assassin, something she probably should have guessed on her own, before opening her mouth, seeming like she was about to inquire more about that...but then Kraven did the thing. Inna's face immediately became flushed, and she scowled to try and hide her embarrassment.

"I- what ees- just- ah- ...nyet..?"

She was confused. We're they having a father daughter moment right now? In Sin City? Really? Did he even realize what he was doing to her right now? Inna just sort of tried to look at other things, scratching the back of her head awkwardly.

"And you...?"

Best way to turn the conversation around. Kraven evidently had a boyfriend.

Kraven couldn't help but chuckle as Ina ordered a whole bottle of vodka RIGHT AFTER he said that shit would kill her. At least she was independent. He really didn't say anything more to that, he did not, however, expect that response from Inna. Sure, that could be a reasonable response from a normal girl her age, but not Inna. She had seemed to be a cold mercenary until this moment, sure she seemed eccentric and had her issues, but he didn't see her as a normal girl. "Interesting..." Kraven responded, though it probably wasn't clear what he was saying "interesting" about to Inna. When asked if he had a boyfriend, Kraven just sort of assumed she was talking about Cathy "Cathy? We met like... five r six years ago? She was a nurse working for a crime syndicate that happened to be employing my services. I think I broke an arm... or a leg? I don't know... I had just met Ryder I remember that. So I was in Conqueror Worm's medbay and there she was taking all of my blood! She wasn't SUPER ANNOYING like Mocha so I took a liking to her and since then we've been together. Except that time I killed her... and that other time... also I think I melted her arm one time? I dunno-" and it was then apparent that Kraven was much more talkative than Inna. There was an awkward pause from Kraven for awhile before he added "Also there's Blood. That's my daughter- I have another one kinda... what was her name again? I haven't seen her in awhile..." Kraven stopped to think for awhile before raising his head up as the name finally popped up in his head "Right! Dorothy!`She's Cathy's daughter..."

Inna wasn't sure what Kraven was thinking, but the 'interesting' made her look around cautiously for a second, expecting enemies or some shit..only to realize he was talking about something else, which somehow made her uneasier. She just nodded along as Kraven started talking about Cathy- that was a safer subject he seemed to be able to talk about a lot, so that was good. Inna couldn't say she was interested in Yuri's love life, but she didn't know about all the killing that had gone on...which wasn't too surprising.

"Sounds healthy."

She assured him, before tensing as he started mentioning daughters...and one that he hadn't seen in a while. Was his memory if her coming back? She wasn't sure how she'd deal with this situation...

"Da..?"

Then he mentioned Dorothy...who wasn't even his daughter. Inna flinched slightly before just straightening her posture and nodding.

"Da."

Kraven had just finished talking about his family life, and he really didn't know where to go from there. Inna's constant stream of "da"s didn't really add any meat to the conversation either. When the waiter came along, Kraven was quick to hand him the menu "Steak. Medium." he told the man, suddenly being reminded of Mario for a moment. He legitimately would have eaten that thing raw. Kraven had always felt like that man's unhealthy diet would have killed him before Kraven ever got the chance to. Alas, that never happened. Sometimes Yuri wondered if he should have let nature work itself out. Kraven couldn't help but think that his sudden memories of Mario could help him come up with an idea for a conversation with Inna. Yet he seemed to have trouble thinking of anything "Sooooo..." Mario ate raw steak, played lots of candy crush, probably abused steroids... IDEA! Kraven lit up as he suddenly asked Inna "Got any unhealthy habits? Besides, you know- all the drinking?" the blonde asked as he took a sip of his newly acquired glass of milk.

Inna didn't seem to mind that she was killing the conversation- she had never been very talkative, and Kraven was unknowingly making it a lot more difficult for her. She didn't order anything to eat, contenting herself with the bottle of vodka, which she shamelessly gulped juuust as Kraven asked about unhealthy habits. Oops.

"Ah.. Nyet? Do not theenk so. Axel and Braque are just pussies when they say the traineeng ees taken too far."

She answered somewhat quickly, seeming like she had made up her mind about something...which she had. The door had opened to talk about Kraven's past, and she had hesitated to inquire further because of how she might be affected by this...but the small talk was worse, and she found that she wanted to push Kraven into realizing who she was.

"Does not matter. Let us talk about your buseeness here again- about the time before No Man's Land."

Inna took another swig of vodka and looked at Kraven in the eye.

"We're you always...an assasseen?"

Kraven didn't know what Inna was talking about when she mentioned training, but he did know that Axel and Braque pretty much sounded like pussies from what she said so he nodded "Yeah-" at this point stuff was getting awkward. Try as he may Yuri couldn't get anything from this woman and it was starting to grate on his nerves. Eventually however, Inna began to ask HIM questions and his expression lit up. GREAT! Kraven combed his hair back with his hand before responding "I was working for Black Dragon for quite some time... years... eventually me and the top brass had a bit of a disagreement and I left them. Went freelance. I killed political and religious figures for awhile, mostly just gunning dudes down in public until I received some intel about interesting stuff going down in No Man's Land. So I got myself captured, the rest is history. Really, I tried to stay in the shadows before No Man's Land. I was just trying to... stay alive. But then I met a worthy opponent in Ryder and someone who could push me to do more in Cathy. Those two took me to the next level..." really, if not for being bested by Ryder, and Cathy's chaotic influence he'd probably just be content with killing random clowns right now. Ryder made it apparent that he wasn't at the top of the food chain. Cathy drove him towards the big leagues as she asked for more and more destruction. Before he knew it he was killing Mario and betraying The Mistress and nuking Chicago.

Inna listened attentively to Kraven's story, but the generalities were killing her. He said he had disagreements...so she inquired further.

"What ees...deesagrement about?"

She asked, allowing herself to probe deeper into Kraven's memories. Her actual goal was to get to what was going on before Black Dragon, as she was sure that the man that had been her father was not involved in any of this at the time, at least not willingly, but she was interested in collecting information about other periods of Yuri's life as well. She took another gulp of vodka, the warmth provided by the drink egging her on as she kept digging deeper.

"Does Black Dragon not...keell the people that...deesagree?"

Kraven's eyes widened as Inna asked him what his "disagreement" was about. SHE TOOK INTEREST ON ONE OF HIS THINGS!? DID YOUNG PEOPLE FIND HIM COOL!? Kraven's eyes were practically sparkling as he responded to his Russian "Well... to be honest The Mistress had this whole thing where she wanted to brainwash the entire world using psychics and stuff... and yeeeaaah I, uh- didn't agree with that so I got mot of her top brass killed and plotted against her. Of course, uh- Cathy kind of died and became a potato sack and stuff got kinda wild from then on. The Killer Gene took control and I kind of don't remember what happened after that..." apparently he NUKED two cities but he decided to leave that out of this story because reason. Eventually Kraven decided to speak again after a long pause, at least so he could finish the story "She said she was gonna do it anyways and I was gonna stop her, buuuut... she kinda just died. No idea how that happened. But cool." Kraven just sort of awkwardly scratching the back of his neck afterwards, having no idea how the Russian would react to what he was saying.

Inna seemed to be paying attention to everything Kraven was saying, but she was recognizing parts of this story- the whole Killer Gene taking over...and Cathy's presence meant it was during No Man's Land...she wasn't sure if what she thought he was talking about, and apparently trying to justify, was what she thought it was.

"Da..?"

She urged him on as he paused for a bit longer than was normal or comfortable, and the final part about the Mistress dying confirmed that this was, in fact, the nuking incident that she had condemned him for since she had heard about it. Her interested expression hardened as she processed this- it wasn't what she had been looking for, as she was hoping for stuff much further in Kraven's past, but this was still a new point of view on a historical event. Did he really think he could justify his actions because of the Killer Gene? Could she bring herself to doubt him still, knowing just how powerful the Gene could be, and the atrocious acts it could make one commit?
Inna rubbed her temples and gulped down some more vodka.

"Right. That."

The Russian had to remind herself that she did not know half as much as she'd like to about the Trust and Black Dragon, and Kraven was sort of just spewing all this out, so she pushed her own thoguhts aside for a second, determined to deal with that later, while she took this chance to fill the fuzzy areas in her brain.

"Th Meestress, she was goeeng to use the Heavenly Treasure for thees...world domeenateeon brainwash theeng? And...why?"

Kraven just sort of stood there awkwardly, though he did drink some milk and eventually he got his food too. Which he started to devour like the horrible carnivore he was "Oh...?" Kraven suddenly stopped eating as Inna questioned him. His eyes narrowed as a smirk appeared on his face "You know more than you let on..." Kraven didn't mentioned Heavenly Treasure by name. Inna suddenly mentioning it struck him as odd "You've got a story to tell me too. Though by all means I'll tell you about The Mistress... if you'll believe what I tell you. The Mistress was... very very old... like ancient China old. There was this mix of chemicals... I believe she just called it the Grand Panacea... it kept her young, though eventually we found out it also had a horrible effect on the user's mind. Not that any of that stopped her from using it... I don't know what she experienced in ancient China, but it made her want to change the world. Alongside Charles Paladin, and Cain... they formed a secret society known as The Trust. And well, uh, the less you know of that the better. It's all over now. Heavenly Treasure was created by Charles, and it harnessed the gathered power of the world's psychics to effect the entire human race's collective minds... it was used twice Once to control the populace after the Great War... and then a second time in 2022... and that was The Cataclysm..." Kraven took another sip of his milk and a bite from his steak before looking to Inna again. He seemed pretty done with his story, with whatever he wanted to tell at least "And what about you? You know about The Mistress and Heavenly Treasure... you've got some information of your own..."

Inna sort of Shrugged as Kraven mentioned that she seemed to know more than she let on. Her time with the Suicide Squad had given her a chance to learn a lot more than most No Man's Land prisoners, but she didn't know nearly as much as what Kraven was saying.

"I was weeth Task Force Zeero, we had to deal closely weeth Cha- the CP uneets. I was there when the Meestress went...crazy again. Weeth thees Heavenly Treasure theeng. We helped stop her."

Everything she knew had come from that; though the time after leaving the Suicide Squad could at some point have been aimed at figuring out more about what exactly she had been involved in, she had preferred to spend it trying to forget that she was involved in anything at all. It was only now that she felt the need to know more about this.

"I was only there to do my job...I deed not pay as much attention to the...finer details. Maybe I should have."

Kraven seemed to almost roll his eyes as Inna mentioned Xiu going crazy -again- "Trust me, she was always like that..." he wasn't quite sure if Inna knew how old he was. Kraven didn't look a day past the age of 25, but he was middle-aged by now. He was there when the world was shit, and he was old enough to know the world before the Cataclysm. He knew the world was always shit. But it probably wouldn't be a good idea to say any of that stuff to Inna, no, it was time to get on with their mission. As Kraven ate some steak and drank some milk, he spotted his target "Enough talk of the past though... the present is knocking on our door. Tell me Inna... are you aware how high the Killer Gene goes for on the Black Market? Especially children...?" the man asked, nonchalantly looking behind the woman "At 6 o'clock... look to the blonde man with the orange shirt..." behind Inna sat a rather colorful man. He looked like trash, a rather skinny, rat looking blonde with scuzzy facial hair, smoking an expensive cigar. He was surrounded by at least 7 armed guards in suits who looked much more threatening than him. He wore an orange shirt with a black tie, and he had two women by his side, his hand down one of their shirts in clear public. He was acting loud and seemed to be bullying a waiter. Kraven broke his look to the man quickly, as to not alert the guards "That little shit is a bigshot in Sin City's underworld Inherited an entire mob from his father... he mostly sells drugs... the worst he does is sometimes trade with The Family. But now he's crossed the line... now he's made an enemy of the Ministry of Death..."

Inna scowled slightly at Kraven's eye roll...before she realized it was just an old person thing to do. Somehow she could still think of Kraven as the older man her father was supposed to be, despite his youthful physical appearance, though she would fervently deny it to herself. She was about to ask more about Black Dragon and the rest of Kraven's past when he insisted that it was time for business. The Russian couldn't bring herself to be disappointed- as much as she wanted to prod into Kraven's past, whatever job was at hand had always been her priority, and that was something she couldn't change.

"Da".

Inna agreed that the present was important, before listening to what Kraven had to say. She shook her head as Kraven asked if she knew about the black market and the Killer Gene, then waited to Kraven to look away before subtly turning to look at the man Yuri spoke about.

"Thees man...sells Keeller Gene cheeldren.."

It seemed like it was supposed to be a question, but the answer was obvious enough that Inna didn't feel the need to phrase it as a question. She nodded at Kraven,.

"How do we deespose of thees...eessue?"

Kraven clasped his hands together, one could almost feel a dark aura growing around the man. He always got like this when someone had to be killed "Correct. As of this moment he has five children ready to be sold to god knows who. Basically as child soldiers. I will not stand injustices like this towards our kind in any way... so I've decided I'm going to put an -end- to his operation... and his life, of course." Kraven finished his glass of milk wiping off his newly acquired milkstache to finish his steak. He leaned back on his seat, a seemingly bored expression on his face that masked a truly terrifying expression of excitement he was trying to hide "Here's how this goes... we finish this up, go to our hotel room, and suit up. At midnight he'll be having a business meeting in the basement... we make a dramatic entrance and kill everyone, save the children. Get out. Sound good to you...?" he asked, waiting anticipation for the moment he'd don his nun robe and weapons once more.

Inna noticed the expression that Kraven failed at hiding when speaking about ending this man's life, and that brought her back to reality in terms of who, or what, she was dealing with. This time, however, she could almost sympathize: this new target seemed to be exactly the type of person the Wolfpac would target, if given a large enough sum of money for it. She finished the bottle of vodka in one last gulp, seemingly unaffected by the alcohol, and listened to Kraven's plan.

"They do not know they are being targeted?"

She asked , wanting to make sure that this plan would actually take the orange shirt dude by surprise, as the lack of that could mean their demise.

"Ees there anytheeng we should..watch out for?"

Kraven got the bill and was quick to pay, put it on the hotel room. But it was okay because he was using Jo's bank account for that shit, not that she knew that. Yuri got up and motioned for Inna to follow "The guy's a total tool. I doubt the trash he's selling the kids to are anything more than some warlord's goons. Expect military level gear, but nothing special. This isn't even close to dealing with something like Cain..." he didn't really have a worry about this mission. Not at all, they just needed to teach the criminal underworld a lesson about using the Killer Gene. You'd think that after the reputation Kraven built they'd stay away from those kids, it was quite the opposite. Everyone wanted a chance to raise their own Father Death for their cause. The man got into the elevator, a small, yet rather devious grin on his face "They'll make target practice at the very least..."

As Kraven and Inna left the restaurant, the mob boss didn't seem to even notice them. He was too busy kicking a waiter in the face while excessively drinking with the ladies. Yet, as the two disappeared from his sight, he slipped his hands into his pockets, his smile disappearing. Father Death and Inna Dragovich of the Wolfpac... at the same place, at the same time? Holy shit. That wasn't good. The man was quick to call a bodyguard to his side and whisper into his ears "Deal with them..." the bodyguard nodded then left the restaurant to follow his new prey.

Inna watched their target from the corner of her eye as Kraven spoke, looking different places from time to time so as to not make it too obvious that she was observing and analyzing. Kraven's reassurance that this would be easy seemed to ease her mind slightly- seeing what they had dealt with in the last, this couldn't be too much of a challenge. She nodded and got up, following Yuri to the elevator, more relaxed than before, but still in her state of perpetual suspicion of everything.
Seeing how the bodyguard had only been sent after the pair after they had left the restaurant, Inna had not noticed that they were being followed, but she eyed the people that they passed until they reached the elevator, suspecting that any one of them could be an enemy.

"Let us just do thees queeck. I do not like thees place."

The elevator ride was shared with a single Japanese businessman, whom looked completely terrified of the two tall blondes in the elevator. Of course, Kraven being Kraven, he raised a hand to say hi to the man "Hi-" luckily for the businessman his floor was here, so he then ran in terror from the two to his hotel room screaming while Kraven stood there dumbfounded at what just happened. Of course, he just shrugged it off, and when they reached their floor Kraven was quick to lead them to their hotel room. Just as the blonde unlocked the door though, he received the most terrible experience of all... A PHONE CALL FROM CATHY. Kraven rose an eyebrow at the phone he had at them "Oh shit-! Hey I gotta get this, I'll change while I'm in there-" he told Inna as he then zoomed into the hotel room and locked her out. All you could hear was Kraven's loud somewhat scared voice talking to Cathy over the phone alongside a bunch of metal noises that most certainly were all guns. It all made for a rather loud experience. As Kraven was changing, seemingly with one hand, the elevator opened once more as a tall, bald, black man in a rather nice black suit walked into the hall. He looked to Inna at the end of the hall, he was wearing sunglasses so she could't see his eyes, but there was no mistaking it: he was looking at her. There was a moment's delay before the bodyguard pulled out a handgun and started to outright shoot at Inna in the narrow hallway. Kraven, meanwhile, was still in his room talking to Cathy. He either didn't hear the obvious loud gunshots because of how LOUD he was being, or Cathy wasn't letting him leave. One of the two.

Inna had no weapons on her but her kukri knife, so she stared at the Japanese man on the elevator menacingly, one hand in the pocket where she concealed her weapon, until Kraven scared him away. So that was a good thing she didn't end up having to deal with, though she chuckled at the man's reaction.
As they reached the room and Kraven got the phone call, Inna shrugged, leaning against the wall beside the door of their room and waiting impatiently, eyes arching at the noise going on inside. Of course, she didn't have much time to wait being bored, as the man sent by their target arrived, and just as she reached for her kukri, because she was threatened by all the things, the man started shooting at her. Threat confirmed. Cursing in Russian under her breath, she rolled out of the way, jumping back up only to throw a kick at the door, hoping to force Kraven into action. She then took cover behind one of those cleaning lady carts, moving forwards with the cart and picking up speed, heading directly at the body guard, attempting to run him over with the cart because why not?
