This Story: Our story begins in the highlands of the land once known as Aradomon the wind blew over the Seanchan Eastern Citadel of Ebou Dar where Knotai sat in the Nobles reading room with a copy of the adventures of Jain Farstrider.

Ma- uhh Knotai sat in a chair in the reading room of the palace in Ebou Dar reading a copy of Jain Farstrider across the room sat his 19 year old daughter Selena his wife the Empress was off doing who knows what elsewhere, this had become his routine habit.

Ever since she had been sent on a diplomatic mission seven years ago, she had taken an interest in other cultures, particularly since Roddy had married an Aiel woman. It was always so interesting listening to Marina talk about her other home. Selena smiled as she continued reading.

Marina walked into the reading room, finished with the errands she was tasked with. She looked at the other two and smiled.
"Greetings." she said with a slight bow. She was still getting used to the whole 'Seanchan' thing. They were polar opposites, the Seanchan and the Aiel. But it was okay, she would get used to it. She wondered where Roddy was too. "Are you two alright? I'm assuming since it's a rather boring day." she said, walking a bit closer.

"My errands are done, and so I decided to come back...I mean...milady I...oh bloody." she sat down. "I'm not used to working under people. Apologies, but I am truly clueless with this culture..." Marina had only lived here for a short time, but it was still confusing.

Selena watched Marina with an amused glint in her eye. Were Marina working for her mother, she would likely have been punished heavily for using words like "Bloody" when addressing her. Selena knew Marina didn't mean it insultingly though and her father tended to have fowl mouth when he wanted to.
It's alright, Marina. I'm sure you'll be more acclimated to Seanchan in no time. Father didn't exactly have an easy time when he was brought into all of this either. She looked good naturedly at her father as she said this. Her fathers stories were always the best growing up, especially how he had met and married her mother. It had been...unusual to say the least. She looked back to Marina, still wondering where Roderick was. He hadn't been assigned any particularly difficult duties today and Roddy was one of the strongest fighters she'd ever seen, so she couldn't imagine what was keeping him.

Knotai sat in his chair reading but scoffed lightly to his daughter at her little comment... Ehhem!... Now I did just fine making my way into Seanchan Politics... I was a fast learner you can just ask your mother on that!... Don't worry about it Marina it's no sweat... Knotai didn't get quite why Marina was having trouble... The Aiel were weird and freaky and the Seanchan were weird and freaky you'd think they would have gotten along like peas in a pod.

As the three were in the room talking, suddenly, there was the sound of hastened footsteps and a good deal of anxious blundering out in the hallway. It got closer and closer, then ceased just outside the door.
Roderick proceeded to step into the room, back straight and attempting to look like he hadn't just dashed across half of the city to get there on time.
"Pardon my absence, Little O--Milady," Roderick said, bowing to Selena, then moving to stand next to Marina. "I had an--erm--issue to resolve." He paused for a moment, blowing a bit of hair out of his face by blowing upwards--only for the hair to fall right back into his face. Oh.

Marina smiled, finally her husband decided to show up.
"There you are." she said. "Where have you been?" she crossed her arms against her chest. She was joking of course, going over and brushing her hand over his cheek for a second, and then her expression lightened. "Aiel culture has changed quite a lot compared to how it was before, at least for my tribe. And then coming her to Seanchan. having to change my name, only to have it changed back, joining the deathwatch which was once purely men, when women fight as equals on the battlefield where I come from, and then cutting my hair, which was the hardest thing I believe I've had to do in a while...unless you count..." her thoughts dwindled to one particular moment in time, and unconsciously, her hand moved to a small concaved part of her upper rib cage. That time in the tower...being tortured...and being saved. That time was horrible, and that was one of the worst moments of her life. She shook herself out of those thoughts, and smiled. "But no worries about it. I believe I've been adapting rather well to the changes. So Miss Selena, what exactly would you like Roderick and I to do for you?" she decided to move away from that subject further and ask about assignments.

Selena chuckled a bit at her father.
Where do you think I hear half of these stories from?
She'd talked to her father of about other cultures often enough that she knew he still found some aspects of other cultures weird in nature. It made sense since he had come from a small farming community.
She looked towards the door as suddenly the sound of footsteps could be heard. She straightened then relaxed as she saw that it was Roderick, who looked like he had hurried to make it here when he had. She nodded at him, smiling,
It's quite alright, Roderick. What issue did you have to resolve?
She silently noted his hair situation with a smile. It was funny hearing about the Deathwatch guard and how terrifying they were supposed to be then seeing Roderick not even be able to conquer his own hair. He was still one of the best fighters she knew, but it was funny knowing a member of the feared deathwatch guard so personally and seeing the contrast.
Selena winced at the memory of the tower. That had been horrible for all of them. She looked at Marina sympathetically before forcing herself to smile.
I'm glad to hear that. Father, do you know where Sairina is?

That is odd. Hopefully my brother isn't giving her a hard time. He remembers what happened last time.
She chuckled a little good naturedlly at that thought. She loved her brother but at time he could become the biggest annoyance. Father said he used to be like that but Selena quite frankly didn't believe him. She turned back to Roderick and Marina, still awaiting Roddy's answer.

Marina slowly drifted to the window as they were talking to Roderick. She looked over the city from the window, thinking about the Aiel at this point. She wondered how her family was doing. Her children? She only talked to them briefly after the marking ceremony. She didn't know what to really think about it. Was living here right? Or should she call her children back, and raise them as a stay at home mom...that really wasn't like her but...she would. For them she would. A little smile went across her face.

Suddenly a very small shadow scurried past Roderick and Marina at the door and behind Knotai's chair... Then His sword like spear began moving from side to side on its own then it fell over next to him then the tiny figure scurried behind Selena's chair dragging the spear behind... The figure lifted the spear above its head then fell over onto the ground...

Owee!... Papaaaaaaaaa!...
Knotai rolled his eyes then closed his book, picked up his spear and looked down at the tiny would be thief... Sairina, Girl!... I swear you're going to stab your eye out with that thing next time... Considering his experiences that was a fairly bad joke, He had long since worn a glass eye after his ventures years ago.
But Papa... *Huph*... Knotai's youngest daughter and Selena's sister sat next to her chair seeming very grumpy... She was just a good looking as her siblings and had started taking on political duties two years ago... She was known for being somewhat spoiled and bratty but was otherwise friendly... She was often envious of her other siblings as most of her duties had to do with staying around Ebou'dar while Selena and the others were either ambassadors to other nations and traveled or worked with the Ever Victorious Army.

Marina saw the little girl run in and chuckled a little.
"Ah, if it isn't Sairina." Marina said, and walked over to the girl, kneeling down. "And why the grump face milady? You should be in good spirits. I hear their is going to be tarts made for the supper meal tonight." she whispered, obviously teasing. She was planning on making some sort of snack, might as well share. "Come on now, perk up, an heir shant be showing a frown. It's not good for the country's morale." she gave a smile and stood up. She was pretty okay with kids, it seemed, ever since having her own.

As both Marina and Selena seemed curious about what he had been busy doing--he didn't really have any desire to let them know that he'd actually been busy pampering Minerva even more than usual. She was such a cutiepoo of a dragon, he just couldn't help it...!
"There was--a minor argument--going on between some men in the street--I helped them to resolve it--" Yes. That was totally legit. As Knotai asked him how he was doing, Roderick nodded, replying, "I've been well, sir." Now, he actually used a hand to tuck his hair behind his ear to get it out of his face--he still wasn't used to having his hair this long. When Selena had grown her hair out, though, he'd been in a big hurry to get his longer--he just had to hope that Selena kept her hair how it was for the time being.
And then--the tiny little shadow scurried past him. Roderick raised his eyebrows in alarm, watching the shadow closely--until its identity was revealed, and he relaxed. Still, he did give the young heir a bow--and was thoroughly surprised when Marina went right up to speak with her. Even with their familiarity to the royal family, Roderick still couldn't help but stick to being formal around the Seanchan royals--it was just something engraved in his mind as being necessary.

Selena looked down as she noticed a small shadow scooting closer. She smiled at the sight of the spear seemingly moving on its own. It didn't take long for her to figure out who this mysterious phantom thief was. Selena reached down patting her little sisters head. "He's right. You need to be careful, Sairina." She moved closer to her sister. When her father couldn't see,her smile became much more michevious as she mouthed the words,"Good job, little one! You almost had it that time."

Sairina just sat there being grumpy for a good minute... She looked up at Marina with a pout... HMPH, I don't Frown, Da'cohvale... I'm in charge of the in-territories in Seanchan if someone doesn't have morale, I make them!... and Daddy! Why can't I go on adventures like Selena?! I'm Always stuck HERE... Like most of the imperial family she addressed Marina and Roderick as Da'cohvale... The Old tongue word for - Property, or someone who is property... since technically in Seanchan regards and customs they were Selena's property and by extension the imperial family's as well...
Knotai smiled at his daughter then patted her on the head... It's alright dear, maybe one day... You know your mother never thought she'd ever leave Sean'dar and now look here... and be nice to Marina and Roderick, they're
Sairina didn't seem too content with her father's words... she went up to Selena and whispered in her ear... Take me with you when you leave again... Please...

*Knock* *Knock* ... Suddenly a young woman with dark skin and hair wearing a silver bracelet came in...
Sairina!... Oh there you are... The mistress of the kitchens is looking for you, your dinner is ready...

Without waiting for a response Sairina jumped up and ran by Roderick and Marina towards the kitchen...

Knotai looked up at the young lady with a smile, hearing her voice... Tru'mira! I haven't seen you in days... girl what have you been up to?... Chasing the young suitors away with a stick?! HAHAHA...

Tru'mira sighed deeply, seemingly exasperated, and shook her head slowly... She didn't seem to quite have her father's sense of humor... She laughed sarcastically and noncommittally then spoke *sigh* he-he-he- Father... No, not in so many words... Oh umm, The Empress wishes something of you Father... In the throne room...

Knotai raised an eyebrow, rolled his eyes slightly... then stood up... Well I'll see you all another time then... He kissed Selena on the temple and left the room.

Selena being her only elder sibling she had respect for her, She really disliked her brother, Malv'with and Sairina was too young to connect with on a deep level... She turned and looked out the door... Follow, Suffa... As Tru'mira sat down another woman wearing a silver linked collar, who was presumably Suffa walked in beside her and stood by her chair... Suffa was older or at least it seemed, she had amber eyes and a cold heartless expression unlike most Damane and had the soft ageless face of an Aes'sedai... Suffa made a small grunt as Tru'mira spoke... So, how have you all been?... I take your recent adventures to the Province of the Dragon was at least enjoyable?

"Ah, speaking of which. Roderick, I'll be late tonight, I'm on last patrol of the castle tonight." she said, looking at him. "So, you're going to have to make your own dinner tonight. Sorry." she would say 'love' or 'hun' or even 'dear' at this point, but she was at work, she didn't want to embarrass poor Roderick more then she already had. Then she heard the other girl talk with her damane. Oh, okay. "It was...interesting." she said. "I mean, it could have gone better, but it was okay." she said, once again, her hand moved to the indent on her chest, where that thing was.

Selena frowned as she heard her sister use that word. She knew according to Seanchan culture Roderick and Marina were as much her property as Arturia, her Lopar. But after all that had happened in that light-forsaken city, she couldn't think of them like that. She would have died without both of them there. That had become an aspect of her culture she'd had to deal with after going on business elsewhere for the first time. Selena looked down at her sister and smiled at her. Before she could respond the door opened. Selena smiled at her other sister, acknowledging her with a nod. She looked up at Knotai and kissed him on the cheek, "Of course. Best not keep the empress waiting. We need not wonder what she'd do to you." Selena returned her attention to her sister with a smile, giving the damane a quick look as she took her place by Tru'mira's side. Selena had begun to feel something of sympathy for the damane, especially after traveling with channelers, but she still couldn't bring herself to feel sympathy for Suffa. Selena had always gotten the impression that she had been a distasteful person before her time as a damane began. Selena gave Marina a sympathetic look before answering Tru'mira calmly. "I've been good. It wasn't an uneventful trip, but it went mostly well overall. "

I'm sorry it was so disappointing, Sister, I have to say my current endeavors have been equally unfruitful... Tru'mira seemed to touch the wrist the Bracelet was on there was a thin scar underneath that wrapped around her wrist... It seemed to be a nervous habit of some kind... We've negotiated a treaty with the Queen of Nia Mal'kiri as well as a trade for Tear'angreal, and during my time studying some of them I've come across some difficulties... Nia Mal'kiri meant (New Malkir) it was a new borderland nation that had been revived after the War of Darkness, their King A'lan Mandragoren had disliked anything to do with the Seanchan and his wife, Nyneve, had a much less favorable opinion of them... Likely the only reason either of them agreed to speak with Tru'mira was because they both knew Knotai(Mat) well before the war... The treaty was likely simply for the task of trading with Seanchan as many countries had made it illegal to do so after the war, there was no other reason for a treaty after The Dragon's Peace, the treaty the Dragon Reborn had put in place just prior to the War of Darkness, was put in place... The Aiel Clans Worked as the enforcers of the Dragon's Peace Treaty and no country was allowed to war on one another hence here after, and if two ever did the Aiel Clans would begin warring against both sides in full force... which for any two nations would make a new war much bloodier than any nation could afford after the losses the World's Armies had taken in the War of Darkness... Suffa sat next to Tru'mira letting her pet her on the head like a cat...But the treaty went well, and the trading was fair... however unfortunately I was only able to get two of the tear'angreal I was truly after... which hasn't proven to be enough for my studies.

"Ah, the 8th noon." she mumbled. "By your leave, lady Selena. I must start my patrol." she said, bowing. She walked out of room, and into the town to start her patrol. She didn't really like doing town patrol, but she had to, no harm done

Selena nodded at Marina as she left, before turning back to her sister with a concerned frown. She was aware of how capable her sister was, but it was still regrettable when Selen heard things hadn't gone according to plan.
It's alright, sister. We still were ultimatley able to accomplish what needed to be done. I'm sorry to hear you had complications too. I was excited to hear about your discoveries with the tear'angreal you were finding. Though it sounds like you handled the situation as well as could be expected. Unfortunately if father weren't affiliated with the king and his wife, I'd doubt we have any pleasant interaction with them at all. Hopefully you will be able to find more Tear'angreal to study soon.
Despite her own lack of interest in damane and Tear'a greal, she was proud of her sisters process in her studies of the material. She had not gone without scrutiny when Selena never seemed to show interest in having a damane of her own. Even if it meant she and her sibling didn't fully connect on all of her values, she knew it was helpful to her people to have heirs more in sync with Seanchan culture.
