Crimes:
Was at one point the creator and leader of a highly dangerous gang known as the No-Landers that ravaged many cities up in the north-east, is held accountable for countless cases of murder, vandalism, disturbing the peace, and theft, among other things. Was the second-in-command and later leader of a widely-known, highly dangerous criminal organization, Vulture Team. Is currently one of the co-leaders of the secretive organization N.O.W.H.E.R.E., and thus is partially responsible for any crimes that that organization deals in, as well.

Defining Characteristics:
Ryder’s hair has always been one of his defining characteristics—although he’s lost his awkward goatee, his hair is still blazingly bright and spiky as ever. He’s also the only guy around with a swiss army bat, most likely, if that counts for anything.

Threat Rating:
SSS

Bounty:
5,000,000

Combat Type:
High-Concept

Strengths:
+Ryder has extremely good determination and resolve. If he's knocked down in a battle, he'll just keep on getting back up again up until the moment when he can't move anymore.
+Due to having both modified his bat and having gotten new weapons, Ryder is able to vary up his attacks in battle. Because of the versatility that his arsenal gives him, he can fight either up close, or from far away.
+Is accustomed to up-close combat, and is capable of taking several hits without being too overly jarred by them.
+In cases where he is very focused, Ryder has been known to be able to deflect projectiles using his bat. Of course this becomes more difficult with things like bullets, but based upon his fight with Kraven in the walls, he has been known to deflect those, too...that, however, takes an insane amount of concentration and some fair warning that the bullets are coming.
+Ryder doesn't abandon his allies--and if they're in need, if he's able, he will help them out in battle. He doesn't leave his allies behind, and does all that he can to actually get to know all of the members of his faction by name.
+For enemies that Ryder has fought a lot, he tends to do his best to learn their strategies--for example, how, when he is fighting Kraven, his instinct when Kraven reaches into his cloak is to expect more guns. If Ryder fights an enemy a lot, he begins to learn about them and how they work in battle--although it does take him longer than it would for people who actively analyze others in battle.

Weaknesses:
-He's not so great with making strategy, relying heavily on any strategists that his faction might have at the time.
-He's not so great with ranged combat. While his bat does double as a long range weapon, he's obviously not as good with shooting as he is with bashing things in.
-Ryder isn't really the fastest guy around. Any fighters that are speed-based would probably be bale to outrun him.
-Ryder's got a pretty nasty temper in battle--and when that temper gets the better of him, his skils in battle often suffer for it.
-Ryder becomes overly attached to his allies--and will often risk himself in order to save them in battle. This often endangers him quite a bit, but he's got that 'no man left behind' mentality.
-Unlike several warriors of this age--Ryder doesn't actually have any real supernatural abilities. His physical strength is that which any normal man could possess--same with his speed. He doesn't have any boosts like psychic powers or the killer gene--he's been trucking on through life with nothing much but a bat and his stupidly high willpower.

Weapons:
The good ol’ swiss army bat. Works as a bat, an electric baton, a rifle, and a laser cannon all in one. Also has canisters of paralyzing gas attached to it that Ryder constantly forgets exist. Over the past few years, Ryder added a few more add-ons to the bat—including giving it a knife blade that pops out of it, and a DNA recognition software that subtly takes microscopic tissue samples—only allowing Ryder or people related to him by at least the first cousin basis or closer to use it without getting a good electric shock to the hand. These upgrades didn’t come cheap, but they were pretty worth it. Along with this bat, Ryder’s got a few other weapons at his disposal. For one thing, he has baseball grenades—which, when thrown, will track down heat and curve themselves in the direction of the target, making them more likely to hit—the baseballs have been designed to explode with a very specific timing, allowing Ryder to judge his throws to make them more accurate. Ryder’s other main weapon are the gloves that he took up using—the gloves that just so happen to be able to blaze up into flames when needed. They don’t allow him to control fire per se, but they definitely add a kick to his hand-to-hand style—and if absolutely necessary, allow him to cauterize bad wounds. These gloves have been equipped with a specific type of magnet that reacts to the specific alloy that Ryder’s bat is made of—and allow the user to pull the bat back into their hands from close-by, Thor style. The gloves are fingerless, though, to ensure that the bat can still get the teeny tiny DNA sample it needs to verify that it’s not some sort of imposter using the bat.

Powers:
Ryder doesn’t actually have any supernatural powers—unless you count his obnoxiously high amount of determination and the will to keep going in battle even after having been beaten down several times.

Training:
Ryder’s earliest combat training, strangely enough, was neighborhood baseball games. The reason he’s so good with a bat and thrown weapons today is because of his skill with the sport. When he created his gang, the gang members trained mostly with each other without much outside interference, and slowly became better. Ryder continued training throughout the years, most especially while he was stationed in Carrion Land in No Man’s Land. Little by little, bit by bit, he’s improved himself to what he is today, keeping up his training regularly.

Strategies:
Ryder tends to be very aggressive in battle—his first instinct usually seems to be to get up close to the enemy and beat them down, unless that path of action seems like a very bad idea. If that’s the case, he’ll do his best to stick to long range, using either his firearm, or the few explosives he has on him—but in general, his plan of attack is beat down the enemy before they beat you down—and if they do beat you down, keep on getting up until they aren’t getting up anymore.

Fighting Style:
Ryder’s fighting style is…a bit strange. What used to be themed solely around baseball, though, has grown and changed over the years. In addition to still having the skills with the swiss army bat, Ryder actually took on some training in hand-to-hand combat. He’ll use either based upon the situation. The swiss army bat’s style is pretty similar to what it used to be—whereas the hand-to-hand is much faster—not to mention that Ryder’s gloves can kind of burst into flame when he feels like it. In this way, he can either go for power or speed, based upon the situation.

-Other-
Inspiration:
-When I first made Ryder, my initial inspiration was his original faceclaim--I liked him a lot and the game he's from was obscure enough at the time that I thought nobody would recognize him--though Emu foiled me on that one aHAHA //shot
-For some reason I make a lot of baseball characters? I don't know why,,, lD;;;

Theme Music:
Ryder's Theme - Thousand Suns

Extra Information/Trivia:
-Ryder's kind of afraid of needles. They actually freak him out quite a lot--and this has been a thing since he was little. Getting his piercings was definitely a production.
-Speaking on his piercings, Ryder actually took out several of his piercings following leaving No Man's Land--mostly because they kept getting torn out, so now his right ear is a bit too messed up to really have piercings anymore. However, he's still got two--he has his tongue piercing, which he's gotten too used to to what to get rid of, and a single earring in his left ear. That earring is actually fitted with a tracking device, in case Jo ever needs to find him when he's not around--this became a thing on Ryder's request, since he didn't want to trouble Jo by being captured again. Because that was kind of a drag when it happened.
-Another change that Ryder has gone through is that he has shaved off his goatee, and now goes for a clean-shaven look, since he thought the ponytail goatee was beginning to look childish. Jo didn't talk to him for an entire month after he shaved it off.
-Over the years, Ryder has actually learned to cook things that aren't pancakes! Yes, he's expanded his cooking horizons--and has since learned several vegan recipes upon learning about Jo's need for a special diet.
-On the note of Ryder cooking, he actually cooks for the entirety of the N.O.W.H.E.R.E. faction, all of the footmen and all--and anyone who helps him cook get seconds, and anybody who doesn't help cook has to help with the dishes.
-Ryder's go-to stress reliever these days is playing baseball with Jo and the footmen of N.O.W.H.E.R.E.--they split up into teams and play games quite often. Because of this, the faction actually has a closet full of baseball gear, surprisingly.
-More recently, Ryder has begun smoking cigarettes when he gets stressed out. It's not a habit that he's happy he has, but he's been trying to quit. He's been trying to limit himself these days to healthier stress relievers, but the path to recovery has been a bit of a rough one for him--especially due to the rough patch he went through after the death of his sister.
-Speaking on that, Ryder has declared that someday, he'll avenge his sister's death. He isn't sure of where Cain is right now, and also knows that beating the man in general would be nigh impossible--but someday, he's sworn that he's going to get revenge for Chelsea.
-Ryder either trains or works out at least once a day, to make sure that he stays sharp--he doesn't want to lose his edge, even on days when battle isn't imminent. If he ever misses training because of feeling too sick to train or something like that, he doubles his efforts once he feels better.
-One thing that's stayed the same for Ryder is that cats still seem to dislike him for no good reason,,,
-Ryder has actually taken up journaling. He has a small notebook that he keeps with him and writes in, just to keep track of things that happen in the day, or any other random thoughts he might have that he wants to come back to later.

Interview
(The same as Act 3, though changed for the new setting. Your character wakes up, only to find them self sitting on a plan steel chair, surrounded by a dozen identical men. They are all wearing expensive suits, they are bald, and the strange lighting seems to prevent you from seeing their eyes. These men are all identical to each other, and they don't seem to move at all as they stare at you from all corners. They begin to question you, their monotone, alien-like voices are unnerving, but you realize something. There seems to be no way in... and no way out. You have no choice but to answer their questions now...)

???: Subject is Ryder Mercy, commencing interview.... please introduce yourself...

Ryder: ((he slowly begins to wake up, only to realize that he's nowhere he remembers--and immediately looks to the men surrounding him)) ...And who are you supposed to be? ((seems like he almost had an outburst there and lashed out at them, but decided against it--still seems wary, though))

???: What we are, is irrelevent. We are here to examine and document your existence. Ryder Mercy.

Ryder: ((mutters)) The fuck is this...? ((he attempts to look at his surroundings a bit, but finds himself unable to really do so due to the lighting and the proximity of the figures)) My "existence"...? Sorry, but I'm not some experiment to be "examined." Now if you all don't mind, I think I'm gonna go... ((despite the fact that he has no idea where the exit really is--))

???: You may try to leave. However, you will not Ryder Mercy. You will simply be here... in our space. You will not leave our space until you answer our questions. If you wish to depart, then the simplest way to do so would be to comply.

Ryder: ((shows signs of irritation and exasperation for a moment, then lets out a sigh)) Fine...what sort of quetions are we talking here...?

???: Shall we begin with your point of origin? Derry, Maine. Speak.

Ryder: ((he actually seems quite surprised by the subject matter of the question, his eyebrows rising a bit.)) You want me to talk about Derry...? Hell, I don't even know if it's anything more than a bunch of ruined houses by now...Back when I lived there, the place was walled off--totally cut off from the outside. We weren't allowed to leave. Everyone /thought/ we were safe inside, but that didn't last for long...

???: In this world, walls could only last so long. Continue, what happened?

Ryder: No kidding. Anyway, Wy--...someone found a hole in the wall. Turns out people had been chipping away at a spot behind a building for a while. Before we knew it, thugs were pouring inside. They held up the entire school. I nearly died chasing them off...

???: So you protected your home? Reports indicate you lead a gang, many members would go on to become influential members of No Man's Land's criminal scene. Is this how it began?

Ryder: Yeah--we didn't want to risk something like that happening again. I grabbed a bunch of people from around the neighborhood--plenty of the adults in the town didn't want us doing it because it was too dangerous, but nobody else was going to--so we made a militia. Yeah--it was a /militia/. It sort of....morphed into a gang later, though....

???: And what operations did this gang conduct? How did this lead to your capture?

Ryder: At first, we were just operating near Derry, patrolling. Soon enough, though, we heard about some gang in the next town over thinking about coming over our way--so we went over there and beat them up. 'Course, we were all inexperienced as hell back then, so the fighting shook us up pretty bad--but without even realizing it, we had made ourselves into a threat. We had thought we were just stopping them before they got to Derry, but we'd really turned our defensive force into an offensive force. Soon, gangs from all over started coming in and hammering us with challenges--once we took care of them, we figured we might as well deal with all of the other ones in the area--entire cities got wrecked in the process. Hundreds killed. What the police don't like to mention was that those cities were entirely /controlled/ by gangs, and the "innocent civilians" we killed were armed to the teeth and were the kind of people who'd shove innocent old ladies down flights of stairs--either way, it was all business as usual until somebody tipped off the police to our next mark--they were waiting for us there. Outnumbered us and overwhelmed us. Arrested everyone.

???: Interesting. Are there any members of your former gang around currently? We are having difficulties finding records of any former gang members from Derry.

Ryder: ((he seems to fall quiet for a few moments before speaking, his voice normal, though his eyes are cast downwards slightly)) There's only one other member besides me who's still alive. The rest all died.

???: Interesting. Moving on then. All the prior questions were leading to one location... No Man's Land.

Ryder: ((pauses, as if waiting for a question)) ........What about it?

???: Please describe your time at No Man's Land.

Ryder:....You know that's a good year or so, right? You want me to describe /all/ that in /one/ answer?

???: You just explained several years of your life prior to No Man's Land quite easily....

Ryder: Yeah, well, a hell of a lot more happened in the prison, alright? ....You sure I can't just boil this down to something simple?

???: You may state your simple answer. If it is not acceptable we will ask more questions to elaborate.

Ryder: Fine, fine. I was a member of the organization Conqueror Worm for around two seconds before I joined up with Vulture Team. We fought a lot of people--like Conqueror Worm--and the Inquisitor--The Family--Black Dragon--I ended up as the second in command, then later the leader, shit went down, Jo broke the prison, we all left. There.

???: What Vulture Team did in No Man's Land changed the world... we're sure you know. What happened in the city established the times mankind is enduring now. Paladin is no more. Even The Trust is no longer functional to keep the order.

Ryder: ((seems distracted)) I feel like I forgot some of the factions there...Huh--? ((looks back at the figures)) Oh--well, yeah. And there was hardly any "order" before, anyway. Just the fact that we even /needed/ a prison for /super criminals/ should've kind of tipped you off on that. There never /was/ any order. Not as long as I've been around, at least.

???: False. The situation today is much more dire. While the Super Criminal phenomenon was troubling, they held a fraction of the power six years ago compared to what they hold today.

Ryder: "False"...? You know, this isn't exactly a black-and-white situation here. More power to the criminals or not, this is way fucking better than what Charles Paladin had planned when he decided to blow up almost every single person on the planet....but hey, who am I to judge? ((sarcasm is obvious on his voice--he shrugs, then sighs, shaking his head slightly)) You gonna ask another question or what?

???: That would be, if this collection did not classify CP-02 as a Super Criminal itself. Our next subject will be Josephine Beaumont: explain.

Ryder:.......You want me to "explain" my girlfriend--?

???: What title you give her does not matter to us. Josephine Beaumont is an anomaly that the collectvie wishes to understand. Explain.

Ryder: ((gives them a bit of a funny look)) You can't exactly "explain" ((emphasizes with air quotes)) a person in a few words, you know. Jo's a person. You don't "explain" people.

???: False. You are to describe the 'person' in as much detail as possible. Possibly describe some goals and traits. Perhaps even explain her psychic abilities...

Ryder:....You just wanna know about the psychic shit, don't you--

???: There are many psychics in the world. But fewer have the capability to awaken... even fewer would use their abilities to destabilize an entire planet...

Ryder: Listen--I don't care what anyone else says--whether Jo has psychic powers or not, she's still the same person. She's a wonderful person, no matter what anyone else thinks--yeah, she's got flaws, but so does /everyone/--and anyway, she's aiming for something better for the world. Doesn't matter that it's destabilized now, 'cause we're out to stabilize it again. ((pauses)) ...Listen. I don't know much about Jo's psychic stuff. There was a lot going on that day...and she doesn't like to talk about it, and I won't force her to.

???: A better world... is that what the purpose of... N.O.W.H.E.R.E...?

Ryder: That about sums it up. A better world than we've had in a while, at least....

???: Interesting. The outside world fears NOWHERE... but we have estimated that only about two hundred invidividuals actually belong to the organization. If not for the fact that you are an SSS class criminal, with a bounty of five million... such claims would be written off...

Ryder: What, you got a problem with small numbers? All good things start small. Hell, Vulture Team started out small. By the time we left, it was probably too big for it's own good, but hey. Listen, our ranks alone should tell you that we know what we're doing.

???: Next question: Why is your base of operations located in the "Wild West"? While it is a hot bed for Super Criminal activity... it's hardly such a point to change the world...

Ryder: You know, that "hot bed for super criminal activity" part is kind of the thing. We need to recruit from /somewhere/ you know. Not to mention, this is only really a starting point--we're gonna be expanding eventually.

???: And just how do you plan on making a Crime Syndicate... lead to a better world?

Ryder: We're doing what Paladin was too corrupt to do. Peace-keeping, protection--all that jazz. I can't say too much, though--who knows what whackjobs you all are working for.

???: Quite. So you plan on making a less corrupt organization than Paladin Industries... by creating a criminal organization...? That strikes us as a rather hypocritical action.

Ryder: Guess it's too bad that I don't really care about your opinion, then. ((shrugs))

???: Very well. We shall discuss more important matters...

Ryder: Go on.

???: Your bat.

Ryder:....What about it?

???: It is more than a bat.

Ryder:.....Aaaand....?

???: Explain.

Ryder: Well, let's see....it's got plenty of modifications....works as a bat, an electric baton, a rifle, a laser rifle, a knife, and DNA recognition stuff--oh, and that gas stuff...yeah, that's it...I think....there might be other stuff in there that I forgot about--

???: So... why?

Ryder: What do you mean, why? It made the bat better for battle. I wasn't about to run around with a bat that was literally just a bat....I mean, I did for a while, but come on--this is kind of the big leagues now--

???: Speaking of which... our research yielded... interesting results. You show almost inhuman willpower... in your battle with Yuri Dragovich in the church, during the Inquisitor incident, in your battle with Yuri Dragovich on the walls, during your battle with Edmund Ross,  in your battle with Yuri Dragovich in the church for a second time- *It seems like they aren't going to stop listing battles anytime soon*

Ryder: Alright, alright, that's enough--listen, I don't know anything about "inhuman"--I'm just about as human as they come. No cybernetics, no nanos, no anything. I guess I just don't like giving up, is all....

???: False. That is an understatement.

Ryder: Okay, fine. I /hate/ giving up, for one thing--and I hate losing. Is that enough? I'm telling you the truth when I say I don't have any enhancements, alright?

???: Very well... answer acceptable. Further research is needed to yield answers. Next question... the gloves... what are their uses?

Ryder:....Punching things and burning things?

???: Acceptable response... we will not enter the more extensive portion of this interview. We shall now discuss Chelsea Mercy... and the individual known as Cain.

Ryder: ((yet again seems jarred by the sudden change in subject--this time not in a good way)) ...I'd rather not talk about that incident.

???: Do you want revenge...?

Ryder: Yes. Cain is going to die--I'm going to see to it.

???: The Church of Crime has been active of late... are you aware?

Ryder: I've heard talk, yeah.

???: This collective has noticed that you experience extreme trauma as it pertains to the loss of ones close to you. Though many are saddened by their lost loved ones, we have noticed you seem to hold the deaths of those around you very personally... even when you could do nothing to change what happened. Explain.

Ryder:....Explain? You want me to explain something like that? ((he seems to hesitate for a moment, faltering slightly)) ...What I don't understand...is how people could ever not feel like that....right? Death is...it's something that took me a while to understand. I tried hating it. I tried to accept it. I tried to not believe in it. Nothing worked, but it was always /there/, and I just--...of course I take it personally. Even when I'm not there...that's a life /ending/. Snuffing out. I've never been a particularly religious person, so I'm not certain if any sort of life after death exists or not....or if it just...all stops...and if that person hadn't died, imagine all that they could have done with their life...! Just letting a person end like that....isn't something that I want to ever have happen. And when I'm there, trying to do something to help, and it doesn't work--it just makes it worse. I start feeling regrets--guilt. 'I could've done this', or 'I should've done that'--too much afterthought, not enough action. That's how it always happens. I saw Cain splatter a little girl all over the ground. And I couldn't do anything. ((he pauses for a moment, then looks up at the men again, and although he can't see their faces, he looks at one of them right where their eyes should be)) I saw that man turn my sister into a monster--then had to watch as my friends put her out of her misery. I couldn't do anything to save her. When we had met up again for the first time after so long, when Chelsea was arrested...I promised her I wouldn't let anything happen to her. And I broke that promise. ((he looks away again, hesitating once more before speaking again)) I knew every member of my gang by name. And there were over a hundred of them, too. I knew each and every one. I knew their families, their hobbies, I even went to school with a lot of them....but now they're all gone. There are too many good people that got torn away from this world way too early. I want to put a stop to that.

???: You believe you have the power to stop everyone from dying...? Do you really beleive such a goal is obtainable...?

Ryder: Anything's possible. Hell, if some people can have psychic powers--if some people've created machines so small you can't even see them with the human eye--I don't see how keeping people from dying is so hard. Yeah, it's gonna take work, but like we already discussed earlier, I'm not really one to give up so easily.

???: If you believe so. This will be interestingt o examine. Your dossier seems to reference an individual known as 'Kraven'... particularly... defeating him... explain.

Ryder: Wait--dossier? What--never mind. Anyway--you wanna hear about him? I'd say that we're kind of simultaneously friends but also beat each other up a lot....? I don't know, it's complicated--

???: Would you say it's one of your goals to defeat him...? We do have a dossier on him as well... you two seem as far apart as possible, it is logical that you would want to kill him.

Ryder:...I wanna beat him, but I've already killed him once. That's more than enough for me.

???: That incident is well documented. After all is said and done however... let us assume that you create a peaceful world... that NOWHERE achieves its goals... do you believe the world will accept you anymore...?

Ryder: As long as we're kind to people, I'm sure that they'll accept us....yeah, there's always going to be some people out there who won't like us...but that can't be helped.

???: You do, however, realize, that if you create a peaceful world... criminals will be shunned. You will have to answer for the crimes that you committed to create this world...

Ryder: Whatever happens, happens. We'll figure it out when we get there.

???: Telling response. Noted. You have been chosen, Ryder Mercy.

Ryder: Chosen? Chosen for what...?

???: You... are an anomaly... and you... will be observed. The system is changing... you will be part of that change...

Ryder: And exactly who am I being observed by, huh? I told you plenty about me--how about you return the favor? And I'm not an "anomaly"--I'm a person. Get that into your thick heads.

???: What we are does not matter. What does matter are the anomalies that will change this world. You are one. One of many. This interview has come to an end.

Ryder: ((giving them a bit of a wary look)) Alright...how do I get outta here, then?

???: Goodbye. (Ryder wakes up)

END INTERVIEW

-Criminal Profile-

Faction:
The Ministry of Death
The Church of Crime

Assignment in Faction:
Brother of Death
Dark Apostle

Vehicle: A sleek black motorcycle. It appears to be a Black Knight Vincent motorcycle. This motorcycle in particular is rather rare--only 211 of them or so were ever created. The motorcycle was found with and was taken from an unsuspecting person with many apologies. Egil still feels a little bit bad about that.

Crimes:
Has committed murder and assassinations, was involved in the dealing, running, and storage of illegal items for sale; for a while was a member of an underground anarchist movement, later on employed with the Deathworshippers in No Man’s Land, and went on to join the Ministry of Death, led by the same leader.

Defining Characteristics:
Egil’s mask in general is pretty telltale, although he really only wears it when going into combat. He’s also got heterochromia, with his left eye being red, and his right eye being gray.

Threat Rating:
B

Bounty:
640,000

Combat Type:
Mostly High-Concept. Killer Gene becomes active in situations of high emotional stress.

Strengths:
+Egil is actually quite physically fit--especially in the ways of speed and agility
+Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity
+Precise with his movements, particularly with his weapons, leading to having good accuracy
+He's surprisingly good at solving puzzles
+Has a good memory
+When the killer gene is active, has enhanced speed, power, and senses, along with pain being dulled

Weaknesses:
-Doesn't exactly have the most attack power (when the killer gene isn't active)
-Isn't very defensively built--takes hits kind of hard (when the killer gene isn't active)
-Has only average stamina, and when forced to fight for long periods of time, will tire in time (however, will push himself past his limits if the killer gene is active)
-Has little to no self confidence, and doesn't tend to contribute to plan-making actively because of it
-Doesn't speak out against ideas he thinks are wrong or flawed, often letting people walk all over him, figuratively.
-Has an unstable emotional state, which is only amplified when the killer gene is active

Weapons:
Egil’s first weapon is razor wire, kept in a spool on his belt. It’s useful for medium ranged combat, and is sharp enough to cut through flesh, wood, and even some thin metals. Egil’s outfit—the skin-tight part—is specifically made to be able to deflect the razor wire, meaning that he is protected if there are any slip-ups with the weapon, seeing as how it requires a high amount of precision to control. Egil also possesses a number of metallic hooks of varying sizes--these can be attached to the razor wire, and be used either as grappling hooks, or as weapons that will more effecitvely stick into the enemy and stay in there if the blow is dealt well enough.

Powers:
Egil possesses the killer gene, which for him, activates when he is in situations of high emotional stress. The killer gene, when active, gives him enhanced speed, strength, and senses--but also inhibits his common sense and most rational thought, bringing forth sheer instinct, exposing the raw emotion for all to see. In addition, the killer gene also dulls pain for him, leading to him often pushing himself beyond his limits while in this state.

Training:
Egil’s first training came when he was picked up by an underground anarchist organization who heard about him when he committed his first murders—these murders were of the nearest people in the small apartment complex he was living in. In reality, these murders occurred due to the first activation of Egil’s killer gene—but not much info is known on the incident, and he refuses to disclose the information. When the anarchist organization heard about it, though, they searched him out expecting a seasoned killer—instead finding a child. Still, they took him in due to his potential, giving him most of his combat training. His work with them also constituted some of his training, before he took a fall for the organization and was arrested and put into No Man’s Land—where he later joined the Deathworshippers, training further with them. He escaped No Man’s Land along with the others when the walls were destroyed, and has since come into contact again with the remnants of the Deathworshippers in the Ministry of Death, continuing his training while working with them for the sake of simply surviving.

Strategies:
Egil doesn’t tend like getting too close to the enemy during battle. He seems overly cautious during fights, often opting to keeping as much distance between himself and the enemy as he can, while still keeping at a range where he can actually attack them. He makes use of stealth a lot, doing what he can to sneak up on his opponents and surprise them.
All of these prior mentioned strategies go out the window, of course, when his killer gene is activated. When that’s going, he simply goes right in for the kill, no holds barred.

Fighting Style:
Egil's fighting style focuses upon speed, stealth, and precision. When not using the killer gene, Egil makes use of the weapons he has on hand, as well as his skills with stealth, in order to get the drop on the enemy and attack them while they are unawares. He uses the razor wire the most often, often using the hooks for several different purposes on the battlefield--he's generally fairly creative with their uses. On the other hand, when the killer gene is active, Egil almost never uses the weapons, and instead switches to a brutal hand-to-hand style, making use of his enhanced speed and strength in order to batter the enemy into submission. This doesn't mean that he would never use his weapons while in this state, though--and if he did, he would be all the more deadly.

-Other-

Inspiration:
-The faceclaim is really cool! Also I wanted to make a killer gene bab,,,, ;w;

Theme Music:
Egil’s Theme – Unravel

Extra Information/Trivia:
-Has been diagnosed with Avoidant Personality Disorder, but was never treated for it.
-It wasn't actually his choice to work with the anarchists in his backstory at first--they recruited him more or less against his will, due to his skills--which they'd heard about after his first killer gene activation when he killed multiple people in a matter of minutes on pure instinct.
-Due to his heterochromia, Egil's killer gene only shows in one of his eyes--the red one still glows when the killer gene activates, but the gray one still remains gray.
-Egil's self-esteem issues first manifested due to his treatment as a child by his parents. While they never physically abused him, they were unable to support a child, and much of their ire fell upon Egil in the form of verbal abuse. He grew up fully believing the fact that he was fairly useless--and through this has never had a high opinion of himself, often second-guessing his own actions and letting others walk all over him.
-Another effect of this is that Egil has never exactly known familial love--he's always been a bit distant with other people, often feeling uncomfortable around them. He does yearn for some sort of close relationship with somebody, but doesn't feel that he has the social abilities to actually have one or keep one.
-Near constantly worries about others' opinions of him. Egil is overly aware of himself, how he looks, and his actions, and does all he can in order to try to avoid criticism or anger from others. To him, doing things that end up going well and getting him praise are flukes--and mistakes are the norm. Of course, that's not the truth in actuality, but in his mind, it's just how the world works.
-Is actually kind of scared of dogs. He doesn't like their loud barking--it startles him. He's not really a fan of snakes, either...in fact, he's not much ofr most animals. He's okay with birds, though--he appreciates them from afar.
-Since meeting Crispin, he has developed a friendship with him--and although he still has bouts of wondering whether Crispin actually likes him or not, the two of them seem to be fairly close--closer than Egil's been to other people, at least. Egil sometimes likes watching over Crispin's shoulder while Crispin's playing video games.
-He appreciates picture books more than normal books because he never received a full education, and because of this, isn't the best reader. Picture books give you the full story through the pictures and use easier words, along with the pictures in them being fun to look at.
-Egil actually has a notebook that he doodles in from time to time--he doesn't actually set out to draw much of anything in particular, instead drawing abstract shapes and designs.
-Egil has a pretty vivid imagination, and has made up a few fictional story tales in his head--although he doesn't feel confident or comfortable enough to write them down anywhere or show them to anyone.
-When his mask is zipped up, it doubles as a gas mask--fashion and function!

???: Subject is Egil Lykke, commencing interview.... please introduce yourself...

Egil: ((wakes up slowly, seeming disoriented at first--rubs his eyes with a hand for a moment, before abruptly realizing the fact that he's sitting in a chair when he was sure he fell asleep lying down.)) Huh--? ((looks up to the suited men and takes in a sharp breath of air in surprise, his eyes widening)) ...Wh-What's happening? Wh-Wh-Who are you and wh-where is this...?

???: Who we are does not matter. We are here to question you. You are an anomaly, and we are here to observe and document you.

Egil: ((doesn't say anything, but shakes his head uneasily as if to confirm that he is, in fact, not an anomaly and would very much like to go home--))

???: You may go home after you answer our questions...

Egil: ((takes a moment to take a deep breath and try to compose himself)) Th-That's all...? J-J-Just questions....? That's it, right....?

???: We will begin. Now. What is your point of origin?

Egil: ((hesitates slightly, then speaks)) O-Oregon. ((clears his throat a bit)) I don't actually remember the name of the town, though.

???: How unfortunate. Carrying on. How was your childhood...?

Egil: ((his voice growing quiet)) I'd...rather not talk about it...

???: If you wish to leave, it would be best to give us information.

Egil: ((seems to flinch somewhat)) S-Sorry--! I-It's--uh--j-j-just--I--it w-wasn't...a very good time. V-Very....lonely? Th-That's probably a good word for it....

???: Elaborate.

Egil: I-I mean....it was just...m-my parents never had any time for me. A-A-And I don't blame them--! I m-mean, they never wanted a child. S-So it's more my fault, anyway....E-Either way, they never t-talked to me, and when they did, they were reminding me what a mess I was--I-I only went to school for the first few years of elementary, but never r-really talked to anyone....s-so, because of that, I didn't really know any people....M-Most of the time I was by myself, sitting somewhere or w-wandering around...

???: And how did that lead to your eventual turn to crime...?

Egil: ((he hesitates again, seemingly having difficulty collecting himself again as the new question is asked)) I-It was....s-something happened. I-I--I d-d-don't know how it happened, but I e-ended up doing something....b-bad. I-I did something bad, and then these people showed up, and....j-just-- ((takes a deep breath)) I-I didn't have much choice but to g-go with them.

???: Who were these people?

Egil: ((seems almost surprised, and extremely relieved, that he wasn't asked about the "something bad")) Th-They were some anarchy organization....th-they'd heard about wh-what I did for some reason a-and assumed that I was really strong...

???: And what tasks were you given once in this group?

Egil: W-Well....once they figured out that I didn't actually...r-really know how to f-fight or anything, i-it was training, mostly...o-once I was actually good enough to be useful to a-anyone ever, it was...um...a-assassination jobs. I-I'm not really proud of myself f-for that, but....a-at the very least, i-it was something I was good at...

???: You said they were an anarchist organization... so what was their goal? To simply spread chaos?

Egil: I-I don't know--th-they never really told me much of anything. I just had to do my job. S-Sorry...

???: Very well... and how did you coem to leave that organization...? Seeing as how your current occupation is-

Egil: Th-They were destroyed by some other group. N-Nobody expected an attack, and they hit hard. A-A-Anyone who survived j-just sort of went off on their own...

???: And just how did you survive this attack...?

Egil: ((looks down slightly)) ....I-I hid. Nobody actually gave me any orders, a-and I was b-being kind of stupid, so I just hid and d-didn't even help...that's probably why they lost... ((sighs, then abruptly looks up again)) N-Not to say that I c-could've made a difference o-or anything like th-that! I-I'm...n-not nearly that good...

???: We see... how did that lead to your next occupation however...?

Egil: O-Oh--right....w-well, right after I left that anarchist group, I-I....kind of got arrested right a-after that--? I've a-actually been with the Deathworshippers since I was in p-prison....though I really joined them j-just to try to get more comfortable with the whole....d-death being a thing....thing....wh-when the prison walls came down, I l-lost track of them, b-but somehow ended up running into them again later a-after they re-established....s-so I figured I m-might as well join again....i-it wasn't as if I really had anywhere else to go...

???: Despite how you seem to denounce yourself... you've managed to become a Brother of Death... you are an officer in the Deathworshippers... just how did you accomplish this?

Egil: Hard work, I-I guess...I-I-I mean, I d-don't think...I'm really all that great....b-but if there's one thing I c-can do well, it's f-fighting, I g-guess....it's all I'm r-really good for....so that might be it....? I-I'm always doing all I can t-to get any jobs d-done that I need to....I-I don't want to get anyone mad at me...

???: We see... what do you think of your leaders within the faction...?

Egil: They...um...k-kind of scare me a b-bit...? I-I mean, I'm p-probably the odd one out h-here, but th-they're....r-really intense...? T-Too intense....B-But either way, th-they lead well...

???: It seems Paladin has placed a bounty of 640,000 on you... in addition you've been given a Threat Rating of B... do you agree with this assessment?

Egil: ((pauses)) ....I-If you're just looking at who I've b-been working for, I-I guess it sounds accurate enough. B-But still, I-I'm--....not so sure if it's really fitting....I-I manage to do my job, b-but I can't possibly be /that/ dangerous....I-I'm not /that/ good....

???: Next question. You posess the Killer Gene...

Egil: ((seems to pale somewhat)) ....D-D-Do we really have to talk about th-this....?

???: Yes.

Egil: ((cringes slightly)) S-Sorry....wh-what do you want to know...?

???: When did it first awaken?

Egil:......R-Right before I joined that anarchist organization. Th-That was the first t-time....

???: And how well can your control it?

Egil: N-Not very well at all....I-I....think it c-comes out when I'm g-getting overly emotional about s-something or other....e-either really angry, o-or scared....wh-when it turns on, I--I-I.... ((seems to become a little bit distressed)) J-Just....I-I don't know how to c-control it at all....I-I'm just glad th-that it only a-a-actives when I g-get r-really stressed....o-otherwise I'd be in a lot of trouble...

???: Interesting... how else do you fight then?

Egil: ((takes a breath to compose himself, seemingly glad at the subject change)) R-Razor wire....a-and these--hook....things....m-mostly I t-try to take out the enemy b-before they notice me....i-it makes it easier on everyone that way....

???: How do these razor wires work...?

Egil: W-Well....the ends are blunted so that they're not sharp and you can hold them...a-and you manipulate the wires to e-either tangle up your enemy, o-or to cut them in certain places....th-they're sharp enough that y-you can cut a person's head c-clean off if you wrap it around their neck--....y-you d-d-don't really need to hear about it in th-that much detail, sorry--B-But, either way, they were pretty difficult to learn.... ((he holds up one of his hands--the palm is covered with several very tiny scars)) I-It takes some doing....

???: You seem to show no traits of self value... possibly due to a history of neglect, perhaps for other reasons... is that another reason you joined the Deathworshippers?

Egil: ((puts his hand down and averts his eyes)) S-Self value is for people who deserve it. E-Either way, it c-could be...I f-figure that n-not many p-people--if a-any--would c-care if I died, s-so I thought th-that maybe g-getting more used to the th-thought of death w-would be a good idea...? A-After all, once I-I'm not useful anymore, I-I don't know what I'll do. Th-Though....th-there might be o-one person who would c-care....I-I don't see why h-he's fond of s-somebody like me, though...

???: Is he another reason you joined this cult...?

Egil: A-Actually, I-I didn't really meet him until after I joined.

???: Noted. Who is this person?

Egil: C...Crispin Mortesque...

???: Another member of this cult?

Egil: ((nods))

???: Would this person be another reason you still live?

Egil: ((seems a bit taken aback by this question--hesitating for a moment, then opening his mouth to talk, but failing to speak at first. He takes a breath, then tries again)) I....I-I....guess that's right...I'm....a p-pretty pathetic excuse for a Deathworshipper, anyway...I-I don't tell anyone this, but death still scares me...

???: That is a reason you joined them... correct?

Egil: Y-Yeah...I-I wanted to fix that...I-It hasn't really been working, though....

???: Fear of the end is natural for human beings.

Egil: I-I guess so....everyone else in the faction j-just...seems to casual a-about it, though. I-I can't help but think I'm doing something wrong.

???: So you seek to conquer your fear of death...?

Egil: I-I...yeah. I do. I-I mean....i-if it ever gets to the point when nobody needs me around anymore, it'll be important....

???: Note taken. You have been chosen...

Egil: ((seems surprised)) Ch-Chosen....?

???: Yes. The world will change. And you shall be part of that change...

Egil: .....I...will--? A-Are you sure you're not mixing me up with somebody else....?

???: Yes. This interview has come to an end...

Egil: S-So.....I can go now....?

???: Yes... goodbye. (Egil wakes up)

END INTERVIEW
